Dr. Brian Edward Mcgeeney, MD

Saw Dr Mcgeeney as he came highly recommend by someone I know and exceeded my expectations. He saw my friend when he worked at the city hospital (BMC). Hard to find him then. I know he is well respected. Only understand bad reviews if you only want a lot of pain meds.

I do think that Dr. Mcgeeny is knowledgeable about migraines. Unfortunately, the way he treats his patients is unacceptable. He is extremely arrogant, patronizing, and has no interest in actually listening to or discussing patient concerns.

What good is it to have a ‘top doctor’ if his patients can never reach him! Especially when his own patient has to chase him down to get his help with insurance on the meds he prescribed. Then finally got his word that he would help and over 2 weeks later, still no follow through. Dr. McGeeney, your patients deserves better!!!

If I could give no stars, I would. He was very rude and condescending when I had my appointment with him. He made me feel horrible about myself and was not helpful at all. When he called me about some results, he read me the wrong person’s results and then strictly read what was on the paper word for word. I could have just read it myself. After reading word for word, he just hung up. No explaining what would happen next or further treatment. During the appointment with him, he continuously insulted me and blamed me for developing a headache. Do not go to him ever.

I entered at Dr. Mcgeeney visit room at Shapiro building a scared to death person and I left that place a completely different person. My visit was at 23 of May 2018. Edlira Kaja

Dr. McGeeny is fantastic. He is easy to talk to and listens to my concerns. He is open to my trying alternative medicines and options for my lifelong migraines. He has been great about finding rescue meds that work without making me a into zombie and following up when I'm stuck in a prolonged migraine stretch.

PROS: I've suffered with debilitating headaches/migraines since childhood. They have NEVER been managed so well EVER!!!! Dr. McGeeney prescribed me a newer beta blocker (Bystolic) as well as my other headache/migraine meds. I still get headaches/migraines but they're of a lesser degree; I'm no longer throwing up and losing my vision on a daily basis which is just incredible. I am truly grateful to have Dr. McGeeney as my neurologist. CONS: Dr. McGeeney is extremely intelligent; the most intelligent doctor I've come across to date. Sometimes with that level of intelligence you lose a bit of "bedside manner" (I call it when my doctors baby me as I'm not the easiest patient :0) Dr. McGeeney is all business about your health, he sticks to the facts, will ask questions until he is certain that he understands what you are experiencing, taking the time to leave no stone unturned ESPECIALLY WITH CLUSTER HEADACHE SUFFERERS like me, and is the most thorough doctor I have come across as… well. For me, there is no real "CON" with Dr. McGeeney as I would prefer to have the best treatment possible from my doctor and get the compassionate jargon from my friends and family.
