Dr. Camilla Hersh, MD

I urge you Read this review and the recent Google reviews before you visit Dr. Hersh. All in all, it was one of the worst medical experiences of my life. I would give a zero if I could. If you are concerned about your age, weight, fertility, etc. do your self a favor and find someone else who will be kinder and less fat phobic. She’s incredibly unprofessional and rude. I especially do not recommend seeing Dr. Hersh if you are struggling with infertility, have PCOS, or are overweight/obese. On my first visit for PCOS she painted the absolute worst case scenario for fertility, telling me I would likely need to spend up to $50,000 on IVF to conceive my first child if I don’t lose weight. This was before reading any of my medical records or talking to me about my concerns. I’m all for realistic information and don’t want things sugar coated, but Dr. Hersh was thoughtless and hurtful. Further, I’m 34 and she told me I needed to freeze my eggs asap or else my kid would be more likely to… get a host of terrible genetic conditions. I got several other opinions and they were all much more fact based on risks and said at this point my husband and I didn’t need to worry about freezing my eggs upon actual medical testing. They were so much more positive and kind. Dr. Hersh also did not give me any warning before putting the clamps in during my appointment. Also the nurse couldn’t figure out how to draw my blood and it took many mess ups and a supervisor to get it out. Of course it sometimes take a few tries but this was not normal.

Terrible and unsanitary practice. Dr. Hersch injured me during my last pap smear exam and caused an infection and injury to my cervix. I had to come back for another exam, but Dr. Hersh sent her nurse instead to do an examination which is really telling. I was ordered antibiotics to help with the infection and since that didn't help and after several calls to the office, I was told to come back yet again for another examination. Dr. did not want to order the ultrasound that was discussed during the previous exam and see for sure what is going on and why the pain after pap exam persist. I refused to go back for the third time and being seen for the same issue and asked just for ultrasound order which I was refused unless I show up in the office. I guess charging more money for the appointment is more important than the wellbeing of their patients, so I was left with pain and unsolved medical problem and all that due to injury caused by the Dr and their unsanitary equipment used during… exam. What was most upsetting is that they continuously blamed it on something else, even though bleeding, infection and pain started right after the first visit and pap smear. This is not how doctors should behave but sadly a lot of them are like this, they don't care about patients and problems they actually cause but about money. Horrible experience.

Great doctor, horrible heartless staff including office manager. They refused to fill in a short gap for my hormone patches ( so I now have to go cold turkey and experiencing bad side effects) that I ran out of until I could get in for an appointment ( like two weeks) while I was caring for my Mom who was dying of Alzheimer's and in hospice. I agreed to make an appointment but just needed refill while being there for my Mom. The office manager could care less, she actually suggested I leave my dying Mom to come to an appointment or they would not fill in the short gap. After seeing this doctor for two years I am appalled at how completely apathetic and unprofessional this woman was! I will now find another doctor who cares for their patients needs and knows how to deal with an urgent situation with compassion. Too bad Dr. Hersh will probably never hear of this.

Very difficult to schedule an appointment with Dr. Hersh at the Reston location. I do not recommend this doctor. She has strong religious beliefs and she is very aggressive with some health issue, in particular when you do not need to do some type of treatments. She is a Gynecologist not a Surgeon as it's written on the internet

I can not say enough good things about Dr Hersh and the entire practice at VWHA. I had my total hysterectomy in early Oct of 2015. I had spent years in discomfort and went to several gynecologists until I found Dr. Hersh who recommended the surgery and said "you will not miss your uterus". Dr Hersh spent so much time explaining the procedure and answering my pages of questions. I had several doctors before Dr. Hersh recommend a hysterectomy but I never felt comfortable with the decision until I met Dr. Hersh. I literally woke up from my surgery and felt relief from all the pain and pressure I had been dealing with for years. My only regret is that I did not find Dr. Hersh sooner and had the surgery years earlier. Dr Hersh and the entire staff have been a blessing. Dr Hersh is the first Dr I have ever found who takes unlimited time during my exams to talk about not only my gynecological concerns but all of my health concerns. Dr. Hersh is an A+ physician and surgeon.

Let's just say that Dr. Hersh is the one you want to help you make medically sound choices. From a miscarriage to infertility, three kids later I can tell you she is the one you want to help guide you through all of it!

Dr. Hersh and her team all are approachable and have excellent bedside manner. The office is busy and they run behind on occasion. Nobody liked waiting but it's worth it to be cared for by such a great team of doctors and PAs.

Dr. Hersh forced me to undergo an unnecessay and simple surgery to make money. I have more problems now than before the surgery. She used to be a good doctor, but unfortunately now she is only focused on making money especially since she lost a lot of her patients.

She is simply the best - incredibly skilled surgeon, compassionate person, very experienced in everything OB or GYN - has managed to stay completely on top of both fields

I have been a patient of Dr. Hersh for the past 15 years. She has been an excellent doctor - both knowledgeable and thorough. She is up-to-date on all aspects of her medical specialty. She spends time with me - I do not feel rushed. She saw me through uterine cancer 6 years ago. When advising me of the test results, she gave me options and when I gave her my preference, she stopped immediately and called a surgeon to get me an appointment. She cares about her patients as does her nurse, Christine. Christine also spends time with me at each visit by reviewing my history and laying out what the current visit will entail. I highly recommend Dr. Hersh.
