Dr. Charles Dennis Swerdlow, MD

After being dismissed by cardiologists at UCLA, Dr. Swerdlow took my symptoms seriously. I had severe SVT which had me in the ER on multiple occasions given adenosine - at UCLA they said it was anxiety....Dr. Swerdlow immediately got me in for an ablation which was scheduled to be 3 hours but he spent 6 hours doing - he does not leave any stone unturned to help his patient's lives. Before the ablation I ended up having an SVT attack, Dr. Swerdlow answered his cell and told me to get to Cedars ER immediately - when I arrived he was literally on the phone with the ER doctors. My ablation has had great results. I didn't realize how bad off I was till he made me feel better. Dr. Swerdlow's care is rare in this day and age. I am proud to be his patient.

Not only is he at the forefront of medical technology and procedure, he invents and perfects them. I will forever stay with Dr. Swerdlow because of his straightforward approach, sincerity, unconventional charm, and utmost trust I have in him with my life. His entire office staff and team are similarly, the most competent, professional, responsive, and caring staff who have ever cared for me. Now three years and two months after my stroke and first afib -- I AM CURED. Thank you Dr. Swerdlow. There is nothing I could ever say or do to thank him enough for restoring my life.

I would highly recommend Dr. Swerdlow. He is a brilliant and kind doctor. From moment we first walked into his office, he and his staff were amazing. My 20 year old son (who had a rare, deadly form, heart arrhythmia), was referred to him after a cardiac arrest incident that occurred while he was away at college (this was a condition that we had no idea he had). Dr. Swerdlow performed a complicated ablation procedure (7 months ago) and my son has not had another incident. He feels great, exercises daily and is very thankful. If you are looking for the best cardiovascular care, look no further.

Fantastic physician, highly skilled, thorough and caring. Fully explained the risks and benefits of a procedure and whether there was sufficient indication that one was necessary and would benefit quality of life.

Dr Swerdlow is a brilliant physician. He couldn't be more patient or more caring. I am totally confident in his diagnosis and treatment. He is a total pleasure on all counts.

Had a consultation with this Dr. Arrived well in advance of my appointment. A half hour after my scheduled appointment I was taken to exam room and after a brief intake the nurse said the Dr. would be right with me. An hour later, the receptionist informed me the Dr. wasn't even there. I spent and hour and a half waiting for the Dr. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. A total of 4 1/2 hours burned with my hour and a half commute each way. UNACCEPTABLE. If people stop putting up with this kind of treatment, perhaps medicine will improve.

He saved my life! Literally! Heâ??s an expert. I mentioned his name to a cardiologist in N. Y. and was delighted, but not surprised, by the response, â??You had the best.â?? He can seem brusque, but is never indifferent. I met him for the first time when he came to tell me about my proposed surgery â?? Iâ??d been told that I needed a heart transplant, both he and my cardiologist thought there was another surgery we could try first. Ask him a question that takes a longer answer and youâ??ll get it, in terms you can understand. I have and will continue to tell friends and acquaintances about him. Doubt that thereâ??s a finer cardiac surgeon anywhere. Not only is he terrific, but his assistant, Kimberly, is the best. Helpful, conscientious to a fault â?? she called me at 7:30 the night before my generator replacement surgery â?? just to make sure everything was going ok. Always pleasant, sometimes funny, thoroughly professional. I cannot say enough good things about them and… everyone Iâ??ve encountered at Cardiovascular Medical Group. And in the approximately 5 years Iâ??ve been a patient there, Iâ??ve met quite a few. The practice is big but you never feel like a number; youâ??re always treated as someone special.

This doctor has the credentials, but is lacking in diagnostic skills and communication skills.

I was diagnosed with SVT when I was 7 weeks old and had constant attacks through out my life. The only way to get my heart rate back to normal was a trip to the ER. It scared me when I reached my early twenties and my SVT attacks started to come more frequently. I wanted to see a cardiologist and see about getting an ablation. I saw a doctor at UCLA, but had so success wit her so I was referred to Dr. Swerdlow by Dr. Urman (another very good cardiologist at Cedars). I had an appointment and in two weeks the ablation was done. I was very scared but Dr. Swerdlow calmed my fears and told me it was the right decision for me. I had the ablation almost 4 years ago and have not had any more SVT episodes, I am thankful!
