Dr. Damian Portela IIi

Dr is awesome but the palm beach urology location in Wellington is terrible! I have some kidney stones removed and I been calling for weeks to get the stint removed. No call back so I went to the office and their to busy to even help me make an appointment. I’m going to have to go the hospital soon to get it removed I think. Good doctors but terrible place. To busy so no care at all.

Worst Dr. and worst medical practice ever. My dad has been a patient of his for over 9 years having elevated prostatic antigen test and he never ordered a biopsy then after 9 years turning up with prostate cancer. Not only that. After the biopsy they held the te results for 3 months without giving us the test results. They never return any of the phone calls and this Dr is never there to see his patients you can only see or talk to the NPs and to add a little more, after seeing the oncologist who prescribed medication to start cancer treatment Dr. Portellas practice neglected to provide his prescription for over 3 weeks. MEDICAL MALPRACTICE AND NEGLIGENCE TO HIS PATIENTS. I’m looking to sue this Dr. so this won’t happen to another person. They literally put peoples lives at risk.

Great doctor, prompt, and great attitude.

After weeks waiting for an appointment, my husband had an appointment for his vasectomy with Dr. Portela. But two days before, they called and said he'd be out of the office so we had to reschedule for the next week. Okay, fine. But then two days before THAT appointment, we were told he'd be out of the office AGAIN and we'd need to reschedule for 2 weeks later. It is very difficult to take off of work for my husband and we no longer trust this doctor. How do we know if we accept that new appointment, that the same thing won't just keep happening where 2 days before they tell us the Dr. is unavailable?! Heck no. We aren't playing that game. We are officially going elsewhere for the procedure and we are livid that this Dr. and his office has made us waste weeks of our life where my husband would have had his procedure by now. Now I understand why this doctor has so many bad reviews. GO ELSEWHERE and save yourself the headache!!!

Horrible Dr! Blamed staff for his insufficiency. I would not recommend.

I just had prostate surgery with the Dr and he was excellent in treating what were difficult times for me

Doc spent less than 3 minutes with me in pre-op. Was there on time as I was his only surgery at that facility. Strictly business guy that didn’t relate well to me in pre-op (nor did the ARROGANT Anesthesiologist that wanted to get out of there) Dr. Portela was nice and kind to my wife as she waited for me the whole time. Good people in the Surgical Center especially the nurses. They have hard jobs but, are the best with patients and families!!!! Too bad Doctors think the world revolves around them.

I am a MD and a prior patient of this doctor. you cant get to see the Dr and his pa is incompetent. they put my life at risk with medication that conflict with mine and did not warn me. they scheduled my for a procedure on a piece of equipment that was not operational. taking me off blood thinners and putting my life at risk. they do not return phone calls.

I first met Dr Portela when I was in the hospital as he was the DR. on duty. He seemed so caring. When other doctors had said there was nothing they could do for me, he assured me that there were things we could try. I asked if he would be my Urologist right then. At my first office visit he was 45 minutes late (11:00 appointment, he opened the door at 11:45) which was frustrating, but then he started asking about me (the person) and my history with my condition. All of a sudden I realized it was after 1 0'clock...I believe he gave up his lunch time to talk with me. I immediately realized why he was so late...He gets completely engrossed in the patient before me he was with and sometimes that may be frustrating for the next person, but what a wonderful thing to find in doctor today! Someone who wants to listen! 2 stars for being late, but 8 stars for being so passionate about his patients. Be patient with him and you will have the best care you have ever had.

This is by far the worst doctors office I have ever been to. After booking my appointment over the phone for the specific purpose of getting a letter written, three weeks later and I still don't have a letter. When arriving to the office I had to wait 30 minutes to be seen. Dr. Portela said he needed to run some tests on me and that he would write everything down and he would have his assistant write up the letter I needed. After emailing his assistant the requirements she was confused and could not type the letter up. He basically ran up a bill and didn’t complete what he promised would be completed. I had to make another appointment to speak to the doctor to have him write up the letter. I show up for the second appointment and I wait 40 minutes to be told he will not write a letter. They give me a copy of their reports showing false information and will not even fix the false information. They doctor says he will not even see me even though I have an appointment. Lacks… integrity.
