Dr. Daniel F Chueh

Great experience. Very smart. And yes, he can at times appear abrupt and will pick up his cell phone during a visit - but that never bothers me. The reason is that early in my son's illness (schizophrenia) he was at times very difficult to manage, and Dr. Chueh was always just a cell phone call away to help and talk my son down from whatever crisis he was facing. So, when we are visiting with Dr. Chueh and he interrupts our visit to take a phone call it makes me feel good to know that he is providing the same care to others that he provided to my son when he really needed it.

No stars!!! This guy, *shakes head*....... Where to even begin. I'll start with mean, rude, arrogance on a whole other level, condescending, unprofessional, unethical and uncaring. Some people really shouldn't be in this profession if you really no longer care because you are dealing with their lives. He could care less, really. And it shows. He comes in when he wants, you having an appointment at a certain time is irrelevant. He values no one or their time. Then you have to deal with his pompous attitude, which I don't know why he has one, working at a government funded people mill, not even a private practice = hack. Next, he'll speak AT you like you're a dog, like you're beneath him. He will bark at you as if it's his way or nothing. News flash - we pay your bills! Without clients you'd be out of work, so he seriously needs to check his poor attitude. Don't want to be there? Find another job, but when people take time out of their busy lives, spend gas to go to your… facility, pay your co-pay, wait for hours for you to show up then are met with YOU and all your issues and attitudes, they'll do what we did: file several complaints and find a real doctor who is a professional, not this mess from a wanna-be celebrity doctor in waiting.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE doctor. First of all, you will NEVER be seen at your appointment time. The staff have even disclosed that he is often double if not triple booked. Second. He is pompous and arrogant, and either very oblivious or just flat out does not care. 1. In one appointment he asked me how my eating is. I said that I’ve been slipping back into old anorexia habits. He looks at me and says “you don’t look underweight” (One of THE worst things to say to someone with an eating disorder) which he follows with “just don’t get under 100lbs and you’ll be fine” (this is a medical professional) 2. I have horrible anxiety. Multiple past psychiatrists have told me I’m one of the worst cases they have seen. I also have an addiction history, so I told him that I don’t want any controlled substances but I need something else for anxiety because my meds aren’t cutting it. He accused me of drug seeking and said he wouldn’t prescribe me anything. I was literally having… panic attacks daily, couldn’t go in public by myself, specifically said I don’t want a controlled substance. But he refused to prescribe. Literally the next appointment I complained of the same thing and he offered me xanax. He offered a newly sober drug addict xanax. 3. I have premenstrual dysphoric disorder. Basically I get cycles of depression that correlate to the changes in hormone levels due to my monthly cycle. When I first tried asking the doctor about my symptoms (this was before being diagnosed with PDD) He told me it has nothing to do with my period, im just bipolar. When I tried to explain why I didn’t feel that diagnosis fit (I’ve also had multiple medical/psych professionals rule this out) he cut me of and said “I’m the doctor, you’re bipolar”. When I explained my symptoms to the next psychiatrist I saw, she immediately told me I probably have PDD and after more questioning and testing, the diagnosis was confirmed. And after seeing me for a while she said she could almost guarantee I’m not bipolar. But he diagnosed me in my third session. 4. As stated earlier, I’m a former addict. He once initiated a conversation about my favorite type of alcohol and my favorite type of vodka. When I only had a few months sober. I think there are more appropirate and beneficial conversations to be had. Overall, I have never met a doctor that is more full of himself (and i’ve worked with a lot). I would recommend going without meds before seeing him.

The most rrogant, patronizing, disrespectful, unprofessional doctor I've ever seen. This office, this doctor, is a patient mill. They double, triple, quadruple book for the same time slots and they whip them through in 5-15 minute sessions for all caregivers, not just Chueh. People with serious issues have had breakdowns in the waiting room and no one does a thing--screaming, acting out, etc. It does't feel safe. This man clearly only cares about money, likes to argue with you despite meds you've been taking for years with other docs/insurance, knows better than you, etc. STAY AWAY. The pictures of himself with professional basketball players around the room. He thinks for highly of himself and nothing for you--he's all about the $$. Even his biz name starts with an "A" so that he'll show up first in searches. HORRIBLE. This is not "care" in any shape.

First & foremost before I share my story, please note that I have already filed a complaint against this doctor through Medi-Cal against this "doctor" for his EXCESSIVE unprofessional behavior. Secondly, if you're coming to him because Medi-Cal referred you, please call them back immediately & ask for another referral. I started seeing Dr. Chueh after he was highly recommended from a friend of mine And after I found out he was covered by Medi-Cal. Little did I know that this doctor was highly unprofessional & should be avoided at all costs. I've been diagnosed with depression, ADHD, & anxiety. For two of those disorders I am prescribed a controlled substance, so a total of 2 controlled substances -- which I've been on for YEARS! I go into the office & I explained that my previous doctor had me on very high doses but was looking to be put on much lower doses. If you ask me, that's the OPPOSITE of drug seeking behavior. ANYWAY, he essentially said he's only willing to give… me one controlled substance (either Adderall or Xanax) but not both. I didn't seem to understand why he said this because the medicine treat completely different things. He said that if he was going to give me that one controlled substance (Adderall for ADHD) that I could never ask for the other controlled substance (Xanax for Anxiety) ever again. I thought it was very unprofessional to basically say "You can have this medicine to treat one disorder, but then you have to promise to not ask for your other medicine to treat this other unrelated disorder." I essentially have to choose whether I wanted to have my ADHD treated or my anxiety because he wouldn't give me medicines for both. I contemplated & ended up deciding that I would rather have my ADHD treated so I could actually focus on work & school. I asked him to be put on the lowest dose of Adderall possible because I've been on such a high dose before & it seem to be too much. I asked for 10mg twice a day which is SO reasonable! I explained I was aware that Adderall isn't covered by Medi-Cal insurance & that it would probably cost me about $75 a month for the prescription. I told him that although it was a bit expensive, that I could afford that. So keep in mind that I just convinced "my doctor" to finally give me my Adderall & had manipulated me into giving up my Xanax. He then tells me instead of giving me Adderall (which again, I've been on for years, & I knew I could afford) he prescribed me Daytrana. When he prescribed me this I asked him if it was covered by insurance and he said that it was most likely NOT COVERED. Well, turns out Daytrana does not come in generic form & is not covered by ANY insurance. Oh, & did I mention it that it's about $400 for a 30-Day prescription? & he knew that but did it anyway. Oh yeah, I also explained to him that because of the surgery I had, I could not take any extended release medicines; they wouldn't work to their full effect. I explain this to him several times, he didn't believe me & so he still prescribe me extended release Wellbutrin. I asked him if we could call my surgeons office together so that the doctor that did my surgery could explain to him that I cannot take extended release medicines. Even though the call would've only taken less than two minutes, he refused; & still prescribed me a extended release medicine anyway despite my persistence. So just to recap, I went to this "doctor" & asked for lower doses of the medicines I've been on for years, he essentially made me choose which disorder I wanted to treat & which I wanted to ignore, after finally getting him to agree to give me Adderall, he then refuses & prescribes me something he knows isn't covered by my insurance & knows that I cannot afford. & he refused to acknowledge the fact that I cannot take extended release medicines. Dr. Chueh is highly unprofessional & extremely manipulative. He does not care about his patients from my experience. If you're coming to him because Medi-Cal referred you, please call them back immediately & ask for another referral.

When I finally met him after close to a 2 hour wait, he greeted me with the most arrogant and patronizing attitude. Not 5 minutes in the conversation he "informed" me that he was supposed to be seeing more complicated cases. I got up from the chair and left.

I arrived early for my appointment to fill out new patient paperwork. I was already apprehensive due to all the bad reviews I have read about him. My appointment time came and went... asked the receptionist if he was running behind, she said yes. I asked how far behind and she advised me there were 5 people ahead of me and most of them had been waiting over an hour. I walked out

office staff are rude. I was on time for the appoinmt, first visit and they immediately said I was 15 minutes late but I was not late. Not friendly or welcoming. My daughter met with a physicians assistant and after only 12 minutes was done. WHAT!!!??? First appointment with an 18 year old and not enough time to determine her history, her needs and thorough consult. my daughter gave them back the written prescription and I asked for a refund of copay. they refused. Worst experience ever. and anytime you call you always get a voicemail. 2 ladies in the office and no one wants to answer the phone. I sure hope Dr. Chueh is better, but Narai Brown PA was unprofessional.

This is the worst psychiatrist I have ever been to. I've seen Daniel Chueh, MD 4 times. Each appointment has been a horrible experience. First of all, you will never be seen at your designated appointment time. His staff openly admitted to the fact that he double, sometimes triple books appointments. You also aren't seen based on your appointment time. If I have an appointment at 1:00 and come in at 12:45, but another patient with an appointment time at 1:15 and comes in at 12:40, that patient will be seen first even though your appointment time was before the other patient's appointment since he sees patients on a first come first serve basis. Secondly, Dr. Chueh is just flat out rude. He'll ask you to tell him about yourself, but when you do he will rudely say that what you just said is irrelevant. He also made an in-house phone call to see if I qualified to participate in a medication study, and spoke negatively about my BMI thinking I didn't know what he was talking… about. When I told him that I did his exact response was, "What? You know what that means??" and accused me of only knowing because I just looked it up on my phone, which I did not. How can you live in this day and age and not know what BMI stands for? Thirdly, his staff is extremely incompetent. The doctor needed to reschedule my appointment because the date he scheduled me he was going to be away. I told him that, that was fine, but that I would run out of my medication before the new date and I wanted to make sure that he would refill my prescription. She irritatingly asked, "What? 3 days makes the difference?" To which I replied, "Well yes. You scheduled me exactly a month after my last appointment. One day would make the difference." She left me on hold for ten minutes only to come back and say, "Just have your pharmacy fax a refill request a couple days before you run out." I said, "No, I don't want to wait until I'm almost out to find out that he won't refill my prescription. Can you please ask him now? Or if it's easier for you, you can call me back." I was left on hold for another long period of time for her to get back on the phone irritated and rescheduled my appointment before I would run out of the medication instead of asking the doctor. Lastly, they do not respond to anything in a timely manner. My pharmacy faxed over a prescription on Wednesday and they still hadn't heard anything back end of Friday. I left a message for the doctor or his staff to return my call on Monday. End of day Monday he hasn't responded to either the prescription request or my phone call. Do not go to this doctor. His office is horrible, and he's inconsiderate and rude. Go somewhere else where they actually care about their patients.

i go to this doctor but i never really see the doctor. i always see the nurse and let me tell you. when i come for an appointment i come for help. but this nurse has too critizize the way i dress and ask me not to come back how i was dressed. all i can say is that they are very rude here and theres always a long wait. it would be a good idea to not make appointments on the time they dont have.
