Dr. Daniel Roman Santillano, MD

My elderly mother was under the care of this doctor at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital (San Antonio-Babcock location). While under his care, a nurse (Pam) administered 2 very strong pain meds (Narco at 10am and Dilaudid at 12noon). These meds made my mom turn downhill very quickly. When this doctor came by later that day, he even said, “...these are too strong.” The next day my mom was even worse...barely even able to wake up and hardly eating. I mentioned this to the new nurse the next day. She contacts Dr. Santillano who orders blood lab work. He then returns to us later to say it’s my mom’s lack of eating (which was caused by pain meds) that caused her to be this way...which is hard to believe since before the strong pain meds (just days before) , she seemed to be getting better. We contacted my Mom’s primary care physician and he questioned, “Why is she still in the hospital?” He then states, “All NARCOTICS need to STOP!” He requested a call back from Dr. Santillano to speak with him… but he never called him back (that I am aware of). We were told my mom would be released the next day and we waited all day but Dr. Santillano never showed. We felt he avoided us due to the pain med issue. Dr. Santillano was then off and another doctor came in to replace him and take over and release my mom. To top it off, the hospital lost my mom’s personal belongs. Overall a terrible experience with the doctor and the hospital.

He treated me very badly in the methodist hospital. he was not my physician however claimed that he was in charge, withdrew my medication that was making me better hope i never see him again
