Dr. David Alan Bernitsky, MD

I had been wearing glasses/contacts for most of my life, I had a very high prescription, I couldn't even go to the bathroom at night without fumbling for my glasses! Several years ago, I met with Dr. Bernitsky, right away I felt complete at ease, the appointment scheduling went smooth, the office staff were helpful and courteous. Dr. B was knowledgeable and personable. He didn't want to rush into surgery since I had some dry eye issues. Once he treated the issue and felt confident, we scheduled the surgery, answering all my questions and keeping me at ease. The surgery itself was quick and easy, talking me though everything that was happening. The post-op instructions were clear and easy to follow. He called me personally later in the evening to make sure I was doing well, them saw me the next day (Saturday) to make sure my eyes were healing correctly. The most amazing and profound part was I had nearly perfect vision almost immediately! It was amazing! He did warn me that since… I had such a high prescription I may need touch-ups in the future. Well, one eye did begin to slip, so I made an appointment and after evaluation it was recommended I have PRK preformed. I was well informed by Dr. B and his staff of the differences between the two surgeries, mainly the discomfort and healing time. Although I was quite nervous, him and his staff kept me at ease and ensured that I was comfortable throughout the procedure. Although PRK is definitely more uncomfortable than LASIK post-op, the fact I was so well informed of the expectations, I am not worried I will have my visual acuity back in no time. Dr. B and his staff are AMAZING, I trust them completely, and enthusiastically recommend him to anyone and everyone!

I had Lasik done, but wish I hadn't. Five procedures later, I still cannot read a license plate more than a car length ahead of me, Fluorescent lights and headlights are killers. Back to wearing glasses. Although there is risk with any surgery, anything less than perfect in Lasik surgery was of no benefit to me. I could have stayed in my glasses and been $4000 the wiser. Very disappointed. I wonder if he turns anybody down?

Dr. Bernitsky is a nice guy, but my post surgery care has been less than optimal. I was made to feel like he has no explanation for the problems i'm experiencing and doesn't really care. Totally unimipressed with the post surgery care and bedside manner (lacking).
