Dr. David Len Gibbs, MD

Dr. Gibbs is one of those rare breeds of people and doctors. He saved my daughter’s life and gave her a chance to become the wonderful little girl she is today. We owe him everything, and my wife and I will forever be grateful to this man.

We were referred to Dr. Gibbs and couldn't be happier we were. I am a research freak in all things. I was raised in the medical field from my parent running UCI in Orange,CA ER(clinical coordinator). I worked in engineering at OC Memorial for years learning all the politics, and had an intimate knowledge from behind the scenes of hospital operations and patient care...Dr. Gibbs exceeded all expectations in every area. From explaining my 4yr olds surgery repair, managing expectations and answering all questions. This guy even gave us his cell and answered questions directly by that as well even on his day off. (Here's a tip:...If a Dr. gives you their cell, don't bug them too much...Keep it short and rare...This is AMAZING that a Dr. in this day and age would even offer that type of access...DON'T BURN THAT BRIDGE!)....Cannot say enough about the comfort and confidence to a parent that he brings to the table back by his experience and also with the CHOC OC facilities...TOP, TOP, Notch.

I have been a pediatric nurse since 1988 and I absolutely love this surgeon! When I adopted special needs kids and had one who needed a nissenfundoplication I knew I wasn't taking him to Loma Linda to have it done there after seeing so many of the kids I cared for need repeat surgeries. That is when I found Dr. Gibbs. He never treated my son (at the time foster son) any differently than if he were mine. He got him into surgery promptly and fixed his chronic vomiting issue once and for all. Eleven years later and still doing great. When my son needed surgery to retrieve his testes from his abdomen I knew I'd be going back. Once again he did a great job. When our friends daughter had an injury from a fall on glass and was living uncomfortably with a couple pieces of glass in her bum and no one would help them I sent them to him as well and he fixed her up too even though no one else would. Theres a reason people from the IE travel to CHOC to have surgery with him, because he is the best.… In general I'd say he's a great guy and has the perspective of a Dad as well and the rare perspective of what it is like living with an individual with life long disabilities. I am eternally grateful for the care he has given my son.

We found a golf ball sized mass on my daughter's stomach and were referred to Dr. Gibbs by our pediatrician. He had no appointment openings that week, but saw us after hours the very next day. He was very kind with my 10 year old and actually has a great sense of humor. There was no doubt that she was going to need an MRI and surgery. He told me his office would call me with an appointment time for the MRI and surgery day. He gave me his cell phone number and said to call him if I had any questions. How many doctors do you know who will do that?! Sure enough, the very next morning we were called by his office staff with a MRI appointment and a date for surgery. On the day of surgery, he spoke with us before and after her procedure. Again, telling us to call with any questions or concerns. The entire staff at CHOC Orange was truly awesome. They went out of their way to make us all feel at ease and comfortable in a time of anxiety. Dr. Gibbs even texted me to let me know that… the lab results were not back yet. He truly cares about his patients and their families. I would go back to him in a heartbeat if we ever needed a surgeon.

most compassionate in caring for my 14 year old daughter. he was attentive and listened to her and was most gracious and respectful which she appreciated very much. his interaction did much to defuse the normal fear and anxiety associated with having to have surgery. in a word he was "wonderful".

Dr. Gibbs did an outstanding job on an appendix proceducre for my son. He spent time with us and explained the procedure very clearly. My son's recovery was very fast. Great surgeon, great guy.

my son had a hernia repair. dr gibbs was excellent. he gave us a lot of details re the procedure. he was very knowledgeable and seemed very experienced. he was really good with my son as well, explaining things to him so he could understand. my son loved him! the overall experience at choc was excellent as well, from the very caring staff to the (very minimal) waiting time. dr gibbs did a wonderful job. my son never complained of any pain and he has an extremely small and nicely healed scar. Overall, I would strongly recommend this dr to anyone.

I was impressed with the amount of time he took just talking with us. He interacted great with our son and also with us. He really helped us feel at ease and that he cared. He didn't make light of a minor surgery and gave us his personal cell number if we had questions at anytime. I would recommend him again and again.
