Dr. Demetrius Maoury, MD

As the medical director of the Employee Health Program at Fauquier Health, Dr. Maoury knows firsthand that healthy employees are more productive on the job. But more importantly, Dr. Maoury knows that health management programs help employees make healthier lifestyle choices, and those choices result in reduced health risks. Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Maoury has found that a similar type of approach works best for his patients. By providing access to understandable health information, encouraging participation, providing choices, and respecting those choices, Dr. Maoury is able to help his patients help themselves.After earning his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Virginia in 1993, Dr. Maoury completed the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Internal Medicine Internship and Residency Program.Dr. Maoury has conducted research on parapneumonic effusions and empyema, HIV infection and AIDS, and invasive group A streptococcal infections. He presented …his findings to the McClellan Veterans Administration Hospital and the American College of Physicians.Dr. Maoury joined Fauquier Health as a private practice physician with Piedmont Internal Medicine in 1996. Prior to that, he was an emergency room physician for two hospitals in Arkansas, a student researcher at the University of Virginia, and a phlebotomist at Prince William Health System.Dr. Maoury is married and has three children.
