Dr. Douglas Peter Murphy, MD

I wish it was an option to rate this doctor zero stars. He is extremely arrogant and self-centered. He will create an environment while you are not comfortable sharing things and then force them out of you and then he will tell a story to make you feel even worse. He loves to talk about himself, I told him my parent was struggling with substance abuse, and he was bragging to me about how he is sober. And then I told him that I was struggling academics, and he bragged to me about how smart he was. I have received more empathy from a plain white wall. most of the sessions feel like I am his therapist because he will not stop talking about himself. I cannot recommend this doctor any less this is by far the worst treatment I have ever had. I am consistently leaving my appointments with him in tears.

I love Dr. Murphy but dealing with his staff I very difficult particularly with regard to medication. If a new prescription the Dr. will typically start with a 30 day supply of 10 mg each and, as an example, have you take 10 mg for 5 days, 20 mg for 5 days and then 30 mg. Clearly the prescription will need to be refilled in much less than 30 days. Trying to explain this to the office is hopeless and I eventually gave up. I have been trying to get a refill of a 2nd med for several weeks; now the problem is that the prescription is for one amount and the refill being called in is for a different amount. Despite repeated attempts by both the pharmacy, who will not refill for either amount, and myself I am still without and am now away from home. Again, I finally gave up with the phone calls and leaving voicemails and have stopped this med as well. Bottom line is that Despite the doctor's efforts to improve my health I am not making the progress I hoped for and it is not pleasant… starting a med, making some progress and then suddenly stopping.

Hi i have been a patient at Murphy's practice for a while now and i can positively say that i have been well taken care of, he helps as much as he can & he always askes many questions which is a good thing to be able to help you and he really cares about each individual well-being. hes a busy MD and at the end of the day we are all humans. I appreciate my care from the moment we come for our visits. Thanx

Dr. Murphy has been an invaluable addition to my family's medical team. It can be difficult to find psychiatrists who specialize in treating children in our small community, so I am particularly thrilled that we found him. His knowledge and experience combined with his balanced approach to medicating has made a world of difference in my children.

Dr. Murphy was the only child psychiatrist we could find that took our insurance, everyone closer to us only treats adults. He is 1 hour away from us but my son has been seeing him for the past 15 months to treat his depression. The office staff is friendly, the wait is usually short, but Dr. Murphy does watch the clock and stops you, mid-sentence, to escort you out of his office when your time is up. We drive for 2 hours each visit, to see him for 20 short minutes! He is friendly and knowledgeable and tells a lot of stories about himself or his family, we just wish our time with him was longer!

Dr. Douglas Murphy has provided the best services and has been extremely helpful. I highly recommend him. Hes very knowledgeable and informative to any questions you have or to any advice hes given me.

Dr. Murphy impresses as a knowledgable and caring clinician. He was very thorough in getting to know my issues and his treatment helped me very much.

It's all about getting the right Meds. Dr. Murphy is smart, well educated and up to date. I don't need therapy from him, only correct diagnosis and he is excellent at that.

staff reception very rude , the dr is rude, obnoxious, and talks down. not very sympathetic to issues.. I left in tears feeling worse..
