Dr. Douglas Alan Scott, MD

Dr. Scott permanently disabled me and ended my career when he drilled through my radial nerve during a biceps reattachment surgery. While the surgical complication can be forgiven, his complete lack of concern, empathy, and proactiveness to resolve the issue can not. He continued to blow-off my concerns and gaslight me for over 7 months before I was finally able to convince worker’s comp to grant me a second opinion. He literally laughed at me when I expressed my concern that the nerve injury could end my career and insisted that the surgery went perfectly. Additionally, he didn’t even visit me in post-op. He called my wife to give her the report and she could tell by the background noise that he was driving. Clearly he was in a rush as he had left the building before I even woke up. When I was finally able to get the nerve repair surgery by a competent surgeon he found that Dr. Scott had drilled right through the middle of my radial nerve and passed the suture anchoring my bicep… tendon through it. After the nerve repair surgery I did regain some function of my hand but, unfortunately due to Dr. Scott’s unwillingness to admit that something may have gone wrong it was too late to regain all function and I’m left with permanent deficits. The rest of the staff at BOSS, and especially the physical therapy staff who spent over 18 months doing everything they could to help me recover, were outstanding. However, I would never recommend Dr. Scott to anyone. Had he not delayed me from getting the nerve repair surgery I needed I could have possibly made a full recovery.

I can't say enough about how great Dr. Scott and his office staff our. I was so lucky to have been referred by the ER doctor for a shoulder injury in 2013, I was very impressed immediately. Being a retired OR Nurse he always made sure to talk to me as his equal and was so caring. Forward to 2017 I just had another shoulder surgery by Dr. Scott and Tom his PA who is exceptional also. I have recommend several friends to Dr. Scott for care and they speak so highly of him. My only dislike is that after my last surgery I have only seen his PA, but know that Dr. Scott is a very busy Doctor and so thankful to have him as my doctor.

Dr Scott is well credentialed and respected in the community. Kind, thorough, listens - makes a hue difference when you are anxious or in pain

He is a wonderful doctor that puts his patience first & you can trust him to make the right decision when it comes to care.

I fell at home on a late Saturday afternoon. I knew that I had injured my hip as the pain was intense. I was rushed to HHH and was immediately taken into Xray. I was told that I needed immediate surgery. Dr Scott arrived at my bedside early that evening and said that he was going to operated on me Sunday morning at 8:30. This was my first time for major surgery and Dr Scott made me feel so comfortable and explained the details of the surgery. The operation has been a success, I have been going to out patient PT and I am feeling great, almost walking without the walker only four weeks after surgery. I can't say enough good things about this wonderful surgeon as well as his great backup staff.

When my shoulder started hurting, I was worried I needed surgery. But Doctor Scott helped me with a cortisone shot and physical therapy, and it quickly felt normal. Was happy to have a simple solution.

I fell while playing tennis and tore my rotator cuff. Dr Scott identified the problem, and repaired it surgically. It now feels great and Iâ??m back on the tennis court. Thanks Dr. Scott!

I broke my hip while on vacation in Hilton Head. My son, who has spent many years in the orthopedic trauma hardware business, asked his friends in that field if I should be transported to Savannah for surgery or take whoever I could find in Hilton Head. When he told them that Dr Scott would operate if I stayed in Hilton Head, they recommended him without hesitation. My recovery indicates that he did a great job, and I found him to be extremely cordial, patient, and concerned. Afterwards, he even returned phone calls personally without going through a nurse. I never had the opportunity to visit him in his office, but based on the professional care and personal attention I received later while still in the hospital, I wholeheartedly endorse him.
