Dr. Gregory F Carolan, MD

Dr Carolan performed a reverse shoulder replacement more than 1-1/2 years ago and I continue to have pain. I've attempted to discuss it with him yet he doesn't listen - he only talks. When *he* was done talking, he turned and began to walk out the exam room door (I had no examination). I said, "wait, I wish to be very specific about my pain and the location." He turned his back, walked out and closed the door behind him. His arrogance is appalling.

He is very through and explains every detail in depth. Very easy to understand.'

Dr. Carolan did not put my husband on blood thinners after ankle surgery. My husband passed away suddenly 2 weeks post op from a blood clot. This happened in front of my children and myself. So angry!

Other than to diagnose my injury, hand me a sling, and send me for PT, Dr. Carolan did absolutely nothing for me except get angry when I expressed that I was still having pain after several weeks. It was almost as though he thought I was being critical of him because he hadn't magically healed me, which wasn't what I expected or expressed. Rather, I simply said that I was having pain - something I would assume my doctor would want to know in order to assess whether something else might be going on. Instead, his response to me was, "you have a broken shoulder. It's gonna hurt." He didn't suggest further testing, told me surgery wasn't an option (I didn't ask for or want surgery), and refused to give me anything for pain. He spoke to me as though I was stupid and uneducated (I have a doctorate) and then walked out of the examination room in disgust. Later heard him talking to his staff about me in unflattering terms. This guy is a jerk, but if you like being treated badly, he's… your guy.

I have osteoarthritis of my shoulders and have been dr. Carolyn for the past few years. After exhausting all other options he gave me a complete shoulder replacement. He is a excellent orthopedic surgeon and did a great job on me. He has an awesome personality and treats you like he's known you your whole life. I would highly recommend him to anybody that's considering orthopedic surgery.

Amazing surgeon, very informative staff and doctor. More things explained in his office than any other medical facility in life. Excellent pre and after surgery care. very well pleased with my results from 15 months ago, no negative reports to give. Would highly recommend Dr Carolan and his staff.

My mother made an appointment on Wednesday and we had an appointment that next Monday. When I went in there he said so what's going on I told him and he said he took time out of his life at night to look at my MRI and I so appreciative for him doing that. After he stretched my leg to find how far my mobility in my leg has come. He asked me when I want to have my surgery, I told him later that day and he laughed even though it wasn't funny to make me feel comfortable. So he said he said he could do Wednesday or Friday I told him Wednesday and he went out with me to the receptionist to make sure everything went smoothly and called the physical therapist he said I should have and made sure I could have a continuos meeting with him if that's who I wanted to go with. Anybody who says he not good is an ignorant moron who don't know what they are talking about. And to the person who said he doesn't do feet that is your fault for not knowing your doctor. I recommend him to anybody he's… that good.

Dr Carolan is apparently a good surgeon (just ask him) but doesn't know how to talk to people. He's rude & post op instructions are extremely unclear as he is so quick to get out of the room. Told me I can walk after 3 weeks, PT disagreed & put me on a different program. He blamed me for this. Had he said at the follow up "we used to do it this way but now it's just 3 weeks" I couldve told PT & I'd be on schedule. He shows no empathy & will cut you off where he can. Very argumentative & condescending. Still have so many questions. He just literally will not let me ask them.

Sometimes you just get lucky. After choosing the wrong Doctor for my first shoulder replacement which failed miserably, Dr Carolan was recommended to me as the shoulder guy. What a find!! Dr Carolan of St. Lukes Orthopedics not only removed the splintered remains of my totally disconnected shoulder, but skillfully installed a complete reverse shoulder in a 3 1/2 hour surgery. For the first time in five years I am pain free. My recuperation time was brief and totally without complications, thanks to Dr. Carolan's expertise. This total success was truly amazing compared to my previous experience. Not only was Dr. Carolan a master at his craft, but was also extremely pleasant, always optimistic, and totally involved with my recovery process. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

I'm very very upset. Have suffered with sciatic and heel pain for 4 months. Finally called for apt and was put off for 1 month for appointment . Was left in waiting room for 1 1/2 hours passed our apt time, doctor came in and informed me he does not do anything with feet or ankles. So upset I still had to pay $40 copayment and still have no answers for my foot and wasted a month waiting for appointment !! Very upset!
