Dr. Gregory C Castello, DO

We we're lucky enough almost 20 years ago, when my husband was admitted to hospital to have Dr.Castello doing rounds that day. I am Very particular about doctors, and since I saw how he treated/informed my husband-we have never left his practice. Over the years, he has seen our family grow and always been our trusted physician for the whole family. Highly recommended, always up to date w/ new and improved practices, and just all around a great "bed-side manner" doctor.

I’ve been going to Dr.Castello for several years. He always takes the time to have a conversation during our visit. I’ve always appreciated his knowledge and his kindness.

I was very pleased with Dr.Castello. I've visited a few other drs that only spent 3 minutes with me, not this dr. Overvan hour and he explained to me the issues and best treatment plan. I'm really shocked at these negative comments, because that is not what I experienced at all. This Dr spent an hour with me and our convo was face to face, no computer he was looking down and typing into. Did physical exam, asked me questions to see what my lifestyle is like and how to get my auto immune disease under control. I'm very satisfied and am so happy I chose to see him. Definitely sticking with this dr. If you want a dr that spends time and talks and listens- look no further.....

When things got serious, he handed me off like a hot potato away to just another doctor he personally knows and I have to pay his 'one time' (large) first time patient fee. He isn't edgy or old fashioned; just a hack. He wanted me to sit for over a month feeling like a slug coming off the treatment he pushed on me and then quickly abandoned when it backfired.

I ssaw Dr. Castello saw me ONE TIME, he ordered blood work, and when I returned for my 2nd appt. his unbelievably rude staff would not let me me see him. In fact she told me that he would not see me. I was in shock because we had gotten along well. I have no idea what happened to this day, have never heard back from them, or gotten any results from my blood. (Which I payed for) I have good insurance so that could not be the problem. I will never stop wondering what happened. I came across this profile quite by accident and couldn't resist speaking out against this practice. I'll also note that his address has changed since my unfortunate incident. That makes me wonder WHY? I would NOT RECOMMEND this practice to anyone. Particularly because of the rude and unyielding young woman (Liz) at the desk who's supposed to represent the doctor. The whole experience was completely unprofessional and honestly ODD!

If you keep your expectations exceptionally low, you may not be excessively disappointed in the limited "care" you receive. Doesn't care about his patients at all. It seems he has a "get in, get out" mentality. He doesn't care to explain any scripts he's writing (dosage, strength, side effects, with/without food, etc.), and don't expect him to tell you when he wants you to taper off a drug or how. When you need a refill and call the pharmacy to call it in, don't be surprised if he tells the pharmacist he gave you specific instructions on how to wean off even though that conversation never took place. Suddenly, you'll find yourself feeling the symptoms of withdrawal and the doctor that you had turned to for help is completely forsaking you out of the blue. Oh, and don't expect his office staff to be friendly with you either. With the exception of his nurse, Barb, everyone there is rude and snippy. If you have a question you need the doctor to answer and call the office in hopes… of getting a comprehensible response, you will be very disappointed. If you need a referral and he gives a referral to a specialist that doesn't make sense given your symptoms, the office staff calling you back (if you are lucky enough for one of them to actually take a minute or two out of their work day to return your call) will not give you any explanation from the doctor as to why he would want you to be seen by a specialist of that nature. If you ask, don't be surprised to hear something like, "I'm not a doctor, I can't speak for him" or "I don't know what he's thinking or what's in his head." And if you ask that staffer to get clarification for you so you can have a bit more confidence in the decision, don't be surprised if that person just flat out refuses. If you have a question about medication (as far as strange side effects and whether to stay the course or discontinue and if discontinue whether you can stop immediately or need to taper off) after leaving the office , your best bet is to call a pharmacy. If the pharmacist can't/won't give you any directions (from not knowing your condition or purpose for taking), you are out of luck. You can dial the office number and will be greeted by their after hours service, who will try but fail numerous times to contact him. If/when he gets back to you, don't expect to receive anything that sounds coherent. Expect non-specifics, you're bet off consulting the internet for answers than turning to this loser for help. Does not care about his patients' health or well-being at all.

I have been going to Dr Castello for years. What I like most about him is that he spends time explaining medical conditions to me. He has even drawn diagrams for me in the past. Also, once I was having problems paying for my prescriptions; so he went online to see which pharmacy had the cheapest price. I have never had a doctor take the time to do that. He is the best!!!!
