It is without hesitation that I recommend Dr. Gregory Weinstein. He is the absolute best in his field and if you receive a cancer diagnosis like mine, trust me, you want the BEST. Dr. Weinstein has been, and continues to be, thorough, professional and reassuring throughout my entire cancer journey. In 2009 I was told I had stage 4 Head and Neck cancer. My ENT in Allentown, PA, suggested I consult with Dr. Weinstein at the Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) for a second opinion. He did not steer me wrong. I had already consulted at Memorial Sloan-Kettering and was prepared to go to Anderson and Johns Hopkins, but after meeting Dr. Weinstein at the HUP, I knew this was the best hands. Dr. Weinstein exuded confidence when he told me he anticipated 90% chance of cure, precisely what I needed to hear at the time. He offered options of surgery only, surgery/radiation or surgery/chemo/radiation. Ultimately, I opted for Transoral Robotic Surgery (TORS,) the procedure… Dr. Weinstein developed with his colleagues. Knowing Dr. Weinstein essentially invented and was training physicians around the world in this ground-breaking surgery reassured me in my decision to undergo this relatively new (at the time) procedure. Dr. Weinstein followed-up with a neck dissection as the cancer had spread to my lymph nodes. Together we decided to proceed with only radiation after Dr. Weinstein determined that the TORS was successful. I always felt I had the BEST of care under Dr. Weinstein’s watchful eye while he collaborated with the outstanding radiation oncology team at HUP. Although Dr. Weinstein said I could be released from his care in 2014 (5 years with no recurrence) I feel, for my own peace of mind, I need to continue with my annual visits. Dr. Weinstein’s medical opinion is the one I trust. My follow-up visits are sometimes brief, not a problem as I know Dr. Weinstein is in high demand. He endures my yearly hug, takes the time to ask about my job, my family and our travels. I am always pleased to hear about his family, his exercise regiment and where his lectures take him around the world. I can’t imagine my cancer journey without Dr. Weinstein. Without him I may not have had the same outstanding results. I cannot express my thanks and gratitude enough to him and his incredible team at HUP. I was given the unfortunate diagnosis of SCC by my local ENT. I come from a family of medical professionals and am a Registered Nurse. I wanted to seek the best physician and medical facility for treatment. All of my recommendations and research lead me to Dr. Gregory Weinstein and the University of Penn for treatment. Dr Weinstein is truely an exceptional physician with an incredible knowledge of how best to treat various types of difficult throat cancer. In my case he successfully treated my stage 3 cancer through robotic surgery and both right and left neck dissections. As a result I did not require radiation or chemotherapy. I am cancer free five years post surgery and Dr Weinstein and his staff have overseen all of my followup examinations.

My husband went to Dr. Weinstein on a recommendation from our ENT. After traveling over 1,000 miles, Dr. Weinstein was very confident that he could save my husbands voice box and remove the cancer from his epiglottis. He was honest and up front. Told us it was not a pleasant surgery but that after several weeks, the worst would be over, and it was. The nurses, Louren and his assistants were all terrific. We thank them all! Previous ENT in South Jersey felt there was no rush to have a biopsy as what took 2 trips to discover had a 20% chance of being cancer. Well it turns out it was indeed cancer. Researching my cancer and ENT Surgeons I continued to find Dr Weinstein name appearing as being the top in his field especially in robotics. My tumor was in a very precarious spot in my throat. From my first meeting with Dr Weinstein I knew immediately that he was the right choice for my condition.One of the most powerful word in the English language is only 6 letters cancer. It was scary for me but Dr Weinstein excellent skills as a world renowned surgeon saved my life. He had to reconstruct my throat are because of where the cancerous tumor was located. To secure the best outcome for this squamous cell carcinoma of the piro form sinus he suggested that Hopkins would be my better choice for my post surgical radiation treatment. Once again he was indeed correct because after 32 treatments the radiation effects… are minimal. Also like to give a shout out to Dr Weinstein team. There are completely dedicated to the best outcome for you. Recovery is not easy but if you listen to Dr Weinstein advice you will be better for it. Three years ago when I learned that I had throat cancer that metastasized to lymph nodes in my neck I asked the oncologist in NJ that I was seeing what would he do if it were him. With any hesitation he said if I could have Dr. Weinstein do the surgery then he would opt to have surgery. Boy I am glad that I asked and listened to him. From day one of meeting Dr. Weinstein I know that I made the right choice. Hearing that you have cancer and it had spread is a very scary and frightening but from that first visit I know I was in great hands. What I like the most is that you know immediately that he cares and it showed in how he answered every question and concern me and and my family had. His staff are always friendly and professional and you can tell that they care for theIr patients too. I have experienced a second bout of head and neck cancer, found by Dr. Weinstein. Turned out it was inoperable. I ended up getting radiation only done at Hopkins. Dr. Weinstein's office stayed in constant contact with me. It is Dr. Weinstein took over checking every 3 months to make sure I'm Cancer free. He took this one because he cares. The concern and compassion this man has for his patients are paralleled. There IS no one else I would rather have for my health needs, period. Thank you Dr. Weinstein!
