Dr. Jay Michael Hoelscher, MD

I booked an appointment for a physical for a new patient. When I got to the office the first thing I was asked for was the copay. They charged me $26.00. After 20 minutes of waiting, I had to ask the front desk if I needed to fill out some paperwork, on my 7th page or so, I read that this visit is not for my physical. "Please understand the services provided during the first visit to establish care are unique. They are NOT intended to be your "annual visit" and cannot be billed as such". I got up and told the front desk that I had made an appointment for a physical and nobody clarified on the phone that this was NOT going to be a physical. She had not much to say, she was probably the one that booked my appointment and didn't want to say much in front of her peers. I asked her to cancel the appointment because my insurance is temporary and I might not have insurance by the time they call me back for the actual physical. She said she was going to ask the office manager to refund my… money. It has been 8 days and I haven't received my refund. I have left a vm and they have not reached out to me. Unfortunately they are not running business with honesty.

After two years, my family and I are moving on and do not recommend using this practice. Very hard to make an appointment with Dr. Hoelscher. Nurse practitioners are not competent with basic items like dosage of medications. The staff have given us other patients' test results instead of ours. When lab results suggest an infection or something that requires urgent attention, you cannot count on this practice to call you and tell you. Be aware if you are seeking healthcare. This practice is all about making money. One star is too generous!

I think this is great concept. I can not afford a concierge practice but with the care I get and the environment I have here is perfect. I love the doctors nurse practitioner. Elisa Hernandez. She has great bed side manners and really explains things to me. I do recommend

If you’d like to spend your time being unheard, mistreated, talked down and just disregarded aside from paying, then this is your guy. If you want actual healthcare and a care provider, find someone else.

I started with Dr. Hoelscher about 1 year ago. My past PCP went to this concierge model, so I left him. When Dr. Hoelscher decided to go towards this concierge system, I was a little hesitant because I did not want to pay a membership fee. I decided to try this concept for a year. I couldn't be more thankful for this. I get personal phone calls from Dr. Hoelscher when I have any questions. I also had an issue where I needed to be seen by my cardiologist and my cardiologist could not see me for a few weeks. I called Dr. Hoelscher and explained what was going on and Dr. Hoelscher personally called and got me a visit next day with my cardiologist. I will keep everyone updated on the nice benefits that I find.

Dr. Hoelscher is very nice and personable, but it's extremely difficult to talk with someone, even the receptionist. I've been a patient for a couple of years and I absolutely hate their automated system. I'm very use to using a patient portal, but most recently I couldn't even get into my portal. I've attempted to call numerous times to get this resolved and have not been able to as of yet. This is not an isolated incident. His wife, who runs the office, if very nice and so are most of the staff, but it's extremely difficult to reach them. I've also had issues with their front desk staff -- one time I arrived about 5 minutes early and I was told the doctor was running late and I said ok what would you like me to do? She then proceeded to say, "I should have kept the door locked". I stood there an since this was my first visit I asked if there was any paperwork I could fill out while waiting she said, "Oh you can do that." All she was interested in was continuing her… conversation with another employee. It was very unprofessional. On another occasion I was running late and tried to call to let them know but I could never get through to them. When I arrived 10-15 minutes late I was told that since I was late he couldn't see me and that I'd be charged anyway. I'm probably going to look elsewhere for another doctor.

Staff fails to send referrals/authorizations when asked. Loses files so delays seeing the doctor.

I like the fact that he take time to speak with me and has me taking the most recent medication. Concerned about my health. really cares about his patients.

Office staff nice. Dr.Hoelscher is kind and asked a lot of questions to get to know me. Very thorough.

Insurance is changing so much and Dr.s staff help as much as they can with all the prior auths for meds and referrals these insurance demand.
