Dr. John Henry Reynolds, MD

In a world of Dr's who rush you thru you appoinment, and don't bother to listen to patient concerns, Dr. Reynolds is a pleasant exception! He always takes enough time with me for the reason for my visit, and listens to any other health issues I am concerned about. He is always kind and considerate and always offers professional advice, on issues that I have, that are not in his field of expertise. His office staff are exceptional as well. Crystal, his nurse, was very efficient and very pleasant to work with. Even Dr. Reynolds receptionist, Ernie, went out of his way to help me and make me feel very comfortable before my appointment. This Dr.'s office goes above and beyond normal, when it comes to patient care. I have, and will continue to refer Dr. Reynolds to everyone I come in contact with, that might need his assistance.

Dr. Reynolds is warm and friendly and extremely knowledgeable, inspiring confidence in his patients. He takes his time to explain in detail all aspects of your condition and treatment. Nurse Crystal is fun and does a great job. As soon as Ernie greets you, you feel welcome and comfortable. It is rare to be as happy with the staff as you are the doctor.

I have been seeing Dr. Reynolds for my thyroid condition for 2 years now and have decided to change to someone else as I find him to be "locked into one way and only one way to treat thyroid patients". Unfortunately, he believes Synthroid is the one and only medication to treat hypothyroidism & refuses to consider anything else. He also believes the TSH blood test is the only blood test needed to evaluate thyroid status which doesn't take into account those individuals who may not be able to convert T3 from T4 as they are supposed to do. After complaining of being cold all the time, suddenly gaining weight for no reason, being extremely fatigued, hair falling out, weakness and etc, I called and requested a TSH, Free T3 and Free T4 to see if my thyroid was low as I have had a past history of not being able to stabilize my thyroid when taking Synthroid and I was feeling awful. Dr. Reynolds refused the test telling me it was fine two months previous to my call. I was shocked to think… that Dr. Reynolds would refuse the test in light of my symptoms and at the recommendation of my Rheumatologist. After push back, he finally agreed to the THS only but his office never called in the test to the lab which indicated he was no longer the right doctor for me. According to mainstream medicine, TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) is the gold standard for the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid dysfunction. Unfortunately TSH alone does not provide a complete picture. Doctors rely on this one blood test, TSH, to make major decisions about our diagnosis and treatment, leaving many patients suffering symptoms. Levothyroxine is a thyroid hormone replacement drug that contains the synthetic form of one thyroid hormone, T4. Levothyroxine is the drug of choice by mainstream doctors for hypothyroidism and Synthroid is the most commonly prescribed brand name. The assumption is that our bodies will convert the T4 hormone in these drugs to the active T3 hormone our bodies need. T3 is the most active useable form of thyroid hormone that can be used in the cells of the body. The conversion of T4 to T3 is a critical element in this puzzle. However, for some hypothyroid sufferers like me, our bodies don’t convert T4 to T3 properly. If you want to play a part in your treatment plan along with your doctor, then Dr. Reynolds is not the right doctor for you nor is any doctor who is so short sighted to believe that "one" treatment plan and "one" medication works for all thyroid patients!!

In 2006 I contracted Viral Encephalitis and Dr. Reynold's Treatment was key to my future. I was in very bad shape and no one knew what my future would hold. Dr. Reynold's told me that he could help me and he did. He changed my life for the better. I had to trust him and follow instructions. His approach seems somewhat conservative; however, I am not a Dr., so I would not know any other way to treat hypothyroidism; therefore, I totally trusted him and couldn't be happier that I did. He's beyond and excellent Dr. and a kind man. I would highly recommend this Dr. He allows you to learn to understand your own body, so you can accurately control the medication that you are taking for the remainder of your life. I am a healthy person, because of Dr. Reynolds.

Dr. Reynolds spent 45 minutes talking to me, as if I was the only patient he had. Being a diabetic for 12 years, I have learned volumes of information. But he explained things to me in a way that is easy to understand, and taught me things that I had never heard about. He is very positive, very encouraging and will work to train me to take control over every aspect of my disease. He is conservative on medicines and prefers patients to control their life style first and foremost. I am confident that things are going to change for the better and I will be able to reduce my medications.

I saw Dr. Reynolds for my thyroid condition for several years and just fired him. He is highly arrogant and single-minded in his approach. He will not prescribe any thyroid treatment other than synthetic T4-only medication (e.g. Synthroid), and won't even consider important contributing factors in thyroid evaluation such as T3 and Reverse T3, insisting on treatment according to TSH values only. This is a cookie-cutter approach to treatment which doesn't take into account those individuals who may not be able to convert T3 from T4 as they are "supposed" to do. My thyroid condition worsened under his care to where I lost half my hair.

This doctor spent 2 years playing with my thyroid meds, got angry at me and very rude when I said I don't think they are working and why can't I take generics. He says he knows what he is doing and something that the name brand has that the generics don't have is what I need. Well the name brand was recalled but his medical assistant said she won't fill out the pre approval paperwork for the Insurance company for the other name brand and now I have to take the generic. Why is it ok now and not before? Why was I put through so much stress? Why am I still being put through so much stress. If you have an option to see a different doctor I HIGHLY recommend that you do, I would not recommend Dr. Reynolds.
