Dr. Joseph Steven Handler, MD

My first visit with Dr. Handler was quite shocking to be honest. He spent about an hour and 15 minutes with me, talking to me about the issues I have been experiencing, really digging in to try and get to the route of things. He was very compassionate, he listened, and had a good bedside manner. I didn't feel rushed at all, which was nice for once! I would recommend Dr. Handler as a neurologist.

He has been the primary nero for my son who has a traumatic brain injury always listens to understand the importance of change and works with you not against you.

Today, my wife who is experiencing neurological problems, had an appointment with Dr. Handler. Being in our 70s, we have seen many doctors over the years. Dr. Handler is the BEST, most caring, conscientous doctor we have ever had. He is a total professional who obviously cares in treating patients. Neurological problems are difficult to diagnose as many have no "tests", like blood work, to determine a cause. Dr. Handler covered the spectrum of issues my wife is encountering and gave us his professional opinion as to what we face in the future. I wish all doctors were as dedicated to their profession as Dr. Joseph Handler is!!! I would recommend him to anyone.

I saw Dr Handler when I was being tortured by a podiatrist, who was mistreating me for RSD pain. He said the treatment was fine, and expressed expert level knowledge of this disease, which I later found out was not true.

Dr. Handler is incredibly arrogant and is not willing to take the time to listen to his patients' concerns and requests. After dealing with a chronic illness for many years and seeing countless neurologists, I can safely say my worst experience was with Dr. Handler. He doesn't take his patients' quality of life into account and is short sighted and unwilling to explore different treatment routes after his initial treatments have failed to work.

I have been a patient of Dr. Handlers for over 10 years. I have found him to be caring and attentive. He has always returned my calls promptly. His staff is excellent and awesome with follow up. I am only leaving his practice because I moved 1000 miles away! Any patient with MS would be lucky to have him as a doctor.
