Dr. Joslyn Lois Gumbs, MD

Wanted to like this doctor after reading so many positive reviews and she came off as mostly knowledgeable during most interactions. However, the office is chaotic bordering on irresponsible, several procedures turned out to be far different to how Dr. Gumbs initially described them, and what was already a difficult pregnancy became an increasingly frustrating and alienating experience with each subsequent appointment.

This review is strictly for the nursing staff I encountered on multiple visits. Dr. Gumbs was great, however I will not go back because I had such bad experiences with a nurse. My very first office visit, the nurse's demeanor was off - the way she was responding to me and asking me questions was demeaning. I couldn't tell if she was having a bad day, however that shouldn't be brought into the office regardless. The second time I came back to get the shot administered, the same nurse had the same demeanor. She took me back into a room for the injection, and here is where I was really dissatisfied: - She walked out of the room with my depo injection shot packet open, which made me uncomfortable - She let some of the shot drop down my arm, and when I mentioned it, she said "it wasn't that much" in a rude manner. I was especially upset because I was already past due for my injection and I paid out of pocket for all that medicine. - Most importantly, she left patient HIV… information in plain site - literally she was putting the shot together on top of these papers. I now know someone's name who is HIV positive. Pretty sure this is a major HIPAA violation.

Dr. Gumbs is an amazing OBGYN, I highly recommend her.

I like her she was the best doctor I have experience in years. I would so recommend her.

I was really hoping to find a good doctor but will be changing them for sure after going to my first pregnancy appointment. I felt like I was on an assembly line, she had seen so many people that I didn't matter at all. I waited 25 minutes, and then within 10 minutes she rushed through pap smear, breast exam and ultrasound. It was the first time we got to hear the heart beat and we were all excited and so she turned it off so we couldn't hear it anymore. She didn't speak at all, just did her thing, and I even had to ask her what the heart rate was at and she almost seemed irritated. It was just not a nice experience. This is our first baby and she made us feel like we're just another person on her list to see that day and she wanted to get the day over with. I also had a blood test done, no one calledme afterwards to let me know how it went. Just overall not a good experience. I came from this non profit pregnancy clinic where I wish i could just continue going there because they were… so caring and asked how i was and made it seemed like i mattered. I went from that to the coldest and uncaring dr i've ever had.

Great doctor and very caring!

Dr Joslyn Gumbs was the doctor on call at my nearest hospital when I went into pre-term labor. I was 32 weeks pregnant and did not expect to be admitted to the hospital in prep for my son's birth. This is when I met doctor Gumbs who made me feel extremely safe. I felt that I was in very good hands and knew everything would be fine as long as I was in her hands. Needless to say even with further developed complications, Dr. Gumbs was absolutely amazing, (especially since I was not even her patient until I entered the emergency area at my nearest hospital).
