Dr. Karen Saeger, PhD

Karen blurs confidentiality boundaries and other boundaries as well. During sessions she would regularly refer to other client cases, with some identifying details. While seeming benevolent, she is unprofessional. Karen seemed to act benevolent but came across as authoritative and directive, when I broke up with her. She sent me a long email detailing how she knew best. Which felt like a boundary violation in itself, and a betrayal of my personal material I had shared and trusted her with. All that was a major ick, and double confirmed that this therapist was unprofessional. Karen would exceed the time limits of the session in an extreme way, never ending the session (1 hr extending to a 2.5hr session, without any conversation around how much time was spent or any increase in fee). Any clinician in the field would find no limit to session time a major red flag for the therapeutic frame. I found it to be majorly unnerving, like she was trying to merge with my material and get me to… attach to her too strongly and trust her too quickly. My advice is trust your intuition if you feel off about something, as it only gets worse. It was a confusing and bewildering $1000 I spent figuring this out. Just because a therapist has decades of experience, or sends you an email about how much of an expert they are, doesn't mean anything. Do not pay her ridiculous rates - she is not an expert
