Dr. Kirk Patrick Morey, MD

Neglected to remove all emulsified lens leaving me blind in that eye. What's worse, he said nothing about it leaving me to think it could be permanent.

I was referred to Dr. Morey by my optometrist for cataract surgery. Most of the office staff was warm and welcoming, although one nurse seemed quite impatient during my tests. When I saw Dr. Morey, my first question was, “Did this cataract mature so quickly because I had radiation in that eye?” Dr. Morey replied, “Oh, you didn’t have radiation in that eye.” I, in fact, had to have 3 weeks of radiation because a lymphoma was growing on that eyeball. (To be fair to the doctor, my current ophthalmologist said he’d only seen one other case like mine.) I set up an appointment for the cataract surgery and was encouraged to order through their recommended pharmacy~ where I would get the “ best price in town”. $150 later for two prescriptions I began to have misgivings. It was also recommended that I use a multi-focal replacement lens, which would cost me personally $3700.00, payable the day of surgery. I went for a second opinion to another ophthalmologist and took along the… purchased prescriptions. This doctor said those prescriptions would be fine but he usually prescribed generic ones-which would cost $10-15. We discussed the multi- focal lens but this doctor said he found that the complications with that lens didn’t outweigh the benefits. I’m sure Dr. Morey has his patients best interests at heart, but I’m so glad I went with my current doctor!
