Dr. Zakashansky should be given a 10 star rating. Calm, confident, knowledgeable without being condescending. Takes the time to completely explain and does not rush at all. I feel incredibly lucky to have been referred to him

Simply amazing

Per medical guidelines, Dr. Zakashansky did not order genetic testing when I was first diagnosed with ovarian cancer in May of 2018. After a prophylactic hysterectomy indicated that all my organs were normal, Dr. Zakashansky presented my case to his colleagues to ask if they would follow up the surgery with chemotherapy. Because a significant minority said they would not, I opted for the more conservative route, and did not choose to get chemotherapy. I only now learned, after a recurrence, that I lost all of the advantages of having my ovarian cancer diagnosed at the very early stage. According to my medical oncologist, my cancer is now more difficult to treat, and I’m considered an advanced case. I don’t understand how Dr. Zakashansky or any of his colleagues could have rendered an opinion about chemotherapy without genetic testing. If I had known then that I had the BRCA1 mutation, which makes the probability of a recurrence 80-90%, I would certainly have opted for the… chemotherapy. Dr. Zakashansky and his colleagues would have also been unanimous in their vote to follow up with chemotherapy. I would pursue a malpractice claim except that the statute of limitations just passed when I learned that I lost all the advantages of having my ovarian cancer identified at such an early stage.

My obgyn referred me to Dr Zakashansky with a diagnosis of endometrial cancer. She told me he was the best of the best, and after being his patient I absolutely agree with her! During my appointments he explained everything very clearly and made sure I had no questions unanswered. I had a total hysterectomy through laparoscopy and the surgery could not have gone better. The recovery was quick, with very little pain and no complications. Both Dr Zak and Olesya (his nurse practitioner who is also amazing) reached out several times after the surgery to make sure I was having a smooth recovery. He is an excellent doctor and I highly recommend him!

I found Dr. Zakashansky by accident. I called the office looking for my doctor who apparently retired. Dr. Zakashansky was the only doctor who was working in that office at the moment. I explained my situation to a secretary and she told me that someone will reach out to me. Next day I received a phone call from his assistant who provided a great support. It felt like I was not alone anymore dealing with my situation. I was able to see a doctor right away and the whole experience with him was very professional with additional support of his staff at any time. Everyone made me feel super comfortable in the operative room. It was a good surgical experience. I saw Dr. Zakashansky shortly after the procedure . Dr. Zakashansky has a kind heart. I am Megan's mother,who flew from Australia to care for her post operatively.I am also an RN who worked in OB/GYN in Dallas fo 30yrs.The surgery was fairly difficult,so Megan had researched extensively before she decided on Dr Zak(as she refers to him).I did not meet him until immediately post-op ,where he proceeded to explain to me in detail about the surgery.Megan's recovery was amazing and was discharged less than 24hrs post-op,as was her decision.Actually,I think I picked her up 17hrs after she arrived in her room. The one star reviews, which are repeatedly written by the same person, are sad, vindictive, desperate and simply inaccurate. Multiple friends and family members have had surgery with this him. He's truly one of the best minimally invasive surgeons in the country.

I would highly recommend Dr. Z. to any woman suffering from a complex benign or malignant gyn condition. I got a great vibe from him from the beginning and could immediately tell I was in the hands of an intelligent and talented doctor and surgeon. He was able to quickly identify the cause of my symptoms and thoroughly explained the condition and treatment. I was booked for laparoscopic surgery very shortly thereafter. The surgery went as well as one could hope surgery would go. I experienced minimal pain, had barely noticeable incisions and healed very quickly, which I attribute to Dr. Z.'s skill as a surgeon. He also has a kind bedside manner, and it is evident he cares about the well-being of his patients and their family.
