Dr. Marc Kalan, MD

We met Dr Kalan in 2014, had our first Ivf in 2015 and had a beautiful baby boy. Years later we decided to try yet again. Our first cycle failed (but we learned what needed to change) and then we had another baby boy in 2021. After thinking we were done again…..we reevaluated and decided to use another one of our frozen embryos which we also got genetically tested…..and we had our last baby in 2022. A beautiful baby girl! We will forever be grateful to Dr Kalan for his kindness, compassion, knowledge, and understanding. We have three beautiful miracles with the help of Dr Kalan. We highly recommend him

Great Doctor! Knowledgeable, courteous, excellent results!

Last week, my husband & I had our son, so, right away, I owe SUCH a debt of gratitude to Drs. Vermesh & Kalan! We live in Bakersfield & there just aren't any local doctors who deal in advanced fertility issues. We were referred to this practice, and Dr. Vermesh, specifically, through another specialist working with my husband. What a blessing he is - decades of experience and such a caring individual. He and his staff treated us as real human beings - never just a medical protocol. As our IVF got underway, my husband & mom, who is also a doctor, would make the drive back & forth. My mom was so impressed with the level of care & concern in the staff and I was elated to find a doctor who met her high medical standards! Mid-cycle, Dr. Kalan began serving the Bakersfield area with a weekly satellite office and what a convenient and much-needed service that was! He is so thorough & personable to work with, as well. By the end of my first trimester of pregnancy, the staff knew My whole… family and we were so sorry to have to make the switch to a local Ob- Gyn. There really isn't another practice that can deliver like these wonderful doctors can!

Dr Kalan is a wonderful caring and skilled Fertility Doctor. He is calm, reassuring, skilled, just an all around great Doctor. I highly recommend him to others!

I have nothing but good things to say about Dr.Kalan. He is exceptionally amazing and knows exactly what he is doing.

I started out with Dr. Vermesh (who is also great) at the Center for Fertility and Gynecology. We switched to this clinic after a terrible experience at a highly rated Beverly Hills Clinic that was a terrible fit. Though Dr. Vermesh is who we met with and made us feel comfortable enough to switch, Dr. Kalan ended up doing the actual procedures for our IVF treatment. This was due to some scheduling conflicts and my need to not wait a minute longer for anything. And I was so pleased. We loved Dr. Vermesh, but we also really loved Dr. Kalan. He is down to earth, and funny. He answered my inappropriate questions and just made me and my husband feel comfortable through everything. He is super smart and I completely trusted him on everything. We were very lucky being successful on our first shot with IVF (I am now 37.5 weeks pregnant). You stay with them for 12 weeks, and I wish he could have been my Dr. through my entire pregnancy and deliver my baby. Thats the only downside… (you have to let go after 12 weeks of pregnancy). OH- however, I was in between doctors at about month 4 of pregnancy when I was bitten in the face by a dog. Since I didn't have another doctor I fully trusted yet, I called the emergency line at the Center for Fertility and Gynecology. Though I was no longer a patient there I received a call back within 5 minutes and they told me what to do and what was safe to take. Dr. Kalan also responded to some emails around this time when I was freaking out about the medication I was given for the bite. Dr.Kalan also looked through several lists of doctors my insurance approved to help me find a new doctor he knew and trusted, AND told me certain things that I should contact him for at any time during the pregnancy (for example if certain invasive tests were being ordered). I can't really think of anything negative to say. We loved Dr. Kalan.

Dr. Kalan is the most amazing doctor!! I cannot say enough good things about him and the staff at The Center For Fertility & Gynecology...from the women at Reception, to the Nurses, to all of the doctors, including Dr. Kalan. Dr. Kalan helped me conceive my daughter, who is almost 2 years old and he also helped me conceive my second child that I am now pregnant with - both through IVF. We started by trying IUI but we weren't successful, so we then went to IVF. There have been ups and downs and joys and disappointments over the last few years with me trying to conceive and Dr. Kalan has been with me every step of the way. He is so sensitive and great at dealing with every situation. He really takes the time to talk to you and explain every detail. He has always made himself available to me, even when I had questions after hours. And he has a wonderful bedside manner. It's easy and convenient to make appts and the staff is pleasant and sensitive to all situations. I highly… recommend Dr. Kalan - I wouldn't use anyone else!

While Dr. Kalan wasn't my primary doctor, I loved seeing him when I came into the office. His bedside manner is phenomenal. He always knows exactly what to say, and he makes you laugh when you need it the most. He always explains everything he's going to do, and he takes the extra time to make sure you're comfortable. He's so caring. He was available after hours for me to call, and he didn't make me feel guilty for bothering him on the weekend. I looked forward to seeing him at each appointment. Furthermore, his nurses and staff are excellent. They knew exactly what they were doing in terms of getting us reimbursement for as much as possible from insurance. The nurses were so kind and gave great advice about the shots. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dr. Kalan.

Dr. Kalan is the best doctor I have ever seen. My partner and I were so excited to have a baby together and Dr. Kalan made our dream come true. He made us so comfortable and even made my partner feel like she was a part of the entire process as well. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a fertility doctor.

Maybe there is someone as wonderful as Dr. Kalan, but for our situation he was the best doctor we could possibly have. I just found out this week I am pregnant using donor eggs. I am 43 and he was incredibly patient with me, never making me feel like I was older. I would highly recommend him to anyone going through fertility issues, but especially if you are of "advanced maternal age" -- I interviewed another doctor before him who basically told me I was old in the first meeting. He has the best beside manner around and you can tell he loves what he does and cares very much for all of his patients. The nurses are great as well.
