Dr. Marie Ann Wetzel

I was a patient of Dr. Wetzel for six years, she delivered my son via c-section, the surgery went wonderfully, but it was weird that she only spoke two sentences to me throughout the whole event. Through 90% of the pre-birth visits, I was seen by a physician's assistant, who was very nice, but sometimes had to refer to Dr. Wetzel to answer questions. Dr. Wetzel was always very quick to get me in and out as fast as possible, explaining things as if I were a ten year old, with very little detail. Though I think Dr. Wetzel is driven in her field and is a good doctor, she does not show much concern or empathy for my feelings. The day that I Decided to change to a new obgyn was the day after I had a miscarrage. I was emotional and didn't know what to do, I was bleeding and in pain. The staff turned me away, refusing to allow me to see the DR or Physicians Assistant because I forgot my insurance card (the secretary had a copy of it and showed me the copy of my exact insurance card but… they needed a new copy, my Blue Cross/Blue Shield had not changed at all), I told them that I was scared and didn't know what to do, they asked if I had gone to the emergency room, I said "No, should I go now". They didn't know if I should or not, "That would be the Doctor's call", they said. They refused to see me and tried to schedule me for an appointment in three months. We have excellent insurance and have never had any insurance problem. Now that I have changed to Dr. Zlupko at Altoona OB/GYN, things are very very different, I can't believe I spent so much time with Wetzel and her poor staff at her messy office. I now know what an excellent specialist is. Even if we take away the terrible incident involving the miscarriage, Dr. Wetzel and staff get a 4 out of 10 star rating from me.

she delivered my baby and i've had surgery with her too and she's extremely professional and caring and a top notch dr. i would highly recommend her to friends and family, but everyone i know already goes to her!!

omg! i love dr. wetzel. she is very caring. it may take some time in her waiting room but when it is your turn, you appreciate the time given to you.dr. wetzel knows her stuff. i trust her totally.

I could not of asked for a better doctor for myself or my daughter. Very knowledgeable. Excellent diagnostic and surgical skills. Dr. Wetzel answered all my questions and concerns. Diagnosed the problem immediately! Thank God for a physician who is there for patients and not on a time schedule to get you in and out. My daughter also had surgery with Dr. Wetzel and now I have a beatiful grandbaby. I would never hesitate to refer anyone to this ob/gyn.

Short and sweet- she is book smart but has no idea how to apply that knowledge. I really feel she shouldn't be in this position. If you can imagine her with a knife and you feel scared inside... You should be! There is no peace after u talk to her bc she doesn't connect with you as a person and she is awkward socially at best. Your best option is to stay away and the office is filthy!!!!

I found a large lump in my breast I was told to see if would grow then come back in a few months. I told my PCP who said the was crazy earlier detection is best I was sent to a breast care specialist to have removed asap.
