Dr. Michael William Bowman, MD

I hurt my ankle and was in real pain and found Dr. Bowman thru research and friend references. He was over a hour 20 minutes drive l live in Wheeling WV. It was worth the drive. My initial visit was great he put me at ease and was very professional and a great bedside manner. He sent me to UPMC for pictures and I returned to his office that same day. He was straight up with me and diagnosed that I had torn my Deltoid ligament. He said that type of injury is rare and that it required surgery. He made the arrangements at the hospital there in Cranberry. 4 to 5 days later he performed the surgery. That was like twelve years ago. It is still like new wi 0 problems. I recommend him to everyone. He is a true pro..Maybe that's why the trusted him? Thanks Doc.

Don’t waste your time! He doesn’t listen. Went fir a torn tendon. There are 2 ways to treat it. He need neither and told me to just keep walking on it. A tear won’t heal that way. It needs surgery or an immobilization boot. I went to another dr a week later and got the proper care for a routine tendon tear. Go to someone who will listen to your concerns.

Do not let these people on here tell you differently about Dr. Bowman. You want the best, then go see him. But I’m telling you it’s honest and truthful. He does not sugar coat it. Point blank. I love him. Great sense of humor, dedicated, direct, explanatory and very thorough. I don’t care what the office staff do, you’re there to see an excellent Physician. If you want cuddled, go see a counselor. This Doctor is excellent. He’s patient, HE LISTENS! I will never go to another foot doctor again. Only him. He’s amazing!

I called and asked them twice if they accepted my insurance and they told me twice yes they do. I drive all the way there and waited 30 minutes for them to tell me they don't accept it. It seems that every place i go they have the most incompetent people working out front.

Since I started seeing Dr. Bowman, he has tried several options for helping with my foot pain. These were just temporary solutions. Once I made up my mind to have the necessary surgery, I have been very pleased with the recovery and results. It has been three and a half months since the surgery. For ten weeks, there was no weight bearing on the foot, so I used a knee scooter to get around. I have had four weeks of PT, and I am pleased to say that I now have little to no pain in the foot. His office staff was very friendly, and I would recommend Dr. Bowman to anyone who has foot issues.

I will never set foot in Dr. Bowman's office again. He is rude and unfeeling. I almost walked out on him during my appointment because of the comments he made to me. Refused to treat my foot pain unless I spent $300.00 on foot orthotics I cannot afford to pay for. He needs a lesson on bedside manner.

Dr. Michael W. Bowman has performed multiple surgeries for me over 15 years. In any given situation Dr. Bowman discussed my options, promoting the least aggressive steps before ever discussing surgery. Recently I had surgery for an acute problem with tennis elbow. The nonaggressive steps did not heal me. During my follow up appointment I asked Dr. Bowman about surgery. He took the time, as he has in the past, to make sure I understood what the surgery and rehab entailed. Never once did I feel pressured to have this or any other surgery. I was well prepared for what was to come. I entered any surgery with Dr. Bowman fully aware of what was going to happen as well as recovery / rehab time. I happily report I’ve NOT experienced one post op issue. I followed the doctors directive as well as the PT’s. If you choose not to follow their directive then the healing process is on you. I 100% recommend Dr. Michael W. Bowman for any orthopedic care/surgery you may require. He has… preformed the following for me; Left foot (sesamoid bone removal) Right ankle (talus fracture removal) Right/Left Wrist (carpal tunnel) Presently: tennis elbow (lateral epicondyle reconstruction) I trust Dr. Bowman with my life. I’d never go elsewhere. Why would I when I have the top Orthopedic Foot & Hand Surgeon out there?

I went to Dr. Bowman 12 years after having my ankle crushed and repaired by another Doctor. The other doctor claimed nothing he could od for me and recommended a cane or crutches for the rest of my life. Dr. Bowman recommended a ankle replacement to me, I proceeded with his recommendation and after a long recover I could not be a happier person. This ankle is amazing piece machinery. Dr. Bowman is straight to the point with his diagnoses and is not there to be your friend. Hands down the finest surgeon for ankles.

This man operated on my foot when I was 16 years old. He convinced my dad (who is a physician) and me that I needed an extra UNNECESSARY step in my surgery. He botched the surgery, ended up drilling a screw into the tendon that controls my big toe. He ordered no X-RAYS after the surgery. I couldn’t bend my big toe at PT and when I went to go back and see Dr. Bowman and tell him about not being able to move my toe, he said it was probably a pinched nerve but it DIDNT MATTER BECAUSE I WAS NOT AN OLYMPIC GYMNAST OR DIVER. My dad then ordered an MRI to show Dr. Bowman drove a screw into my FHL tendon and it was tearing it. Dr. Bowman had to repair the tendon he destroyed and take the screw out. A few months later I still had excruciating heel pain. Again he ordered no X-rays to show he removed the screw. After being on crutches most of my high school career because of this man, my knees and back were all screwed up. My chiropractor ordered an X-ray on my foot because he thought I may have… a stress fracture in my heel. Turns out Dr. Bowman actually left the washer in my heel and it was upright and sticking into my heel. He purposefully left the washer in there. When my father called him to confront him Dr. Bowman said he leaves the washers in all his patients feet because a bone is supposed to grow over the washer and it’s suposoed to lay horizontally against the heel bone. Well that didn’t happen in my case and it rotated vertically and it was like I was stepping on a quarter in the vertical position each time I put my right foot down. He was just lazy and instead of removing a piece of hardware that is not supposed to be in a patient’s foot, he just leaves it in there. He was condescending, rude, and he had one of his assistants send me a fake apology because he knew we could’ve sued him. Don’t go to this man. He also misdiagnosed my neighbors ankle and tried to perform an unnecessary surgery on him. Go to someone else. This man’s arrogant and thinks he’s God. He sees his patients as money signs. Not as human beings. I didn’t let him touch me again after the second surgery and had someone else remove the washer in my heel.

I am a nurse and was referred to Dr. Bowman by my neurosurgeon who is absolutely wonderful. My first appointment left me questioning whether I would return or not despite Dr. Bowman's reputation. I had a long wait (about 30-45min) in the exam room and once he came in he was quite abrupt and somewhat rude. He must have been having a really bad day...not what I expected. I was given a cortisone injection and he ordered 4 weeks of PT prior to a return visit. That being said...I decided to return and I am very happy that I did. He is an excellent surgeon and was absolutely wonderful after that appointment and at all of my follow-up appointments for the next 4 months. He was very personable, attentive & explained what to expect before and after my surgery and during my long recovery period. His office staff was wonderful and I never had a long wait in the waiting room or exam room (maybe 5-10 min each time.) I can't say enough about his nurse Kathy who was absolutely wonderful and so… helpful as well. She is a wonderful asset to his practice. I would definitely recommend Dr. Bowman!
