Dr. Paul Harry Singer, MD

Liked Dr Singer's promptness an on time doc! Does not overbook. He really spends his time on getting to know your problems explaining what treatment is necessary. He is Board Certified in Neurology. Would recomend him to family members and friends.

ABSOLUTELY MY WORSE EXPERIENCE IN ALL MY 76 YEARS!! HE WAS NICE ENOUGH ON MY INITIAL VISIT. SAID HE WOULD CALL MY GP THE NEXT DAY FOR MY CAT SCAN. HE DID NOT! LONG STORY SHORT: I CALLED HIS OFC SEVERAL TIMES AND GOT NO RETURNED CALLS. WHEN I CALLED HIS GAL WAS VAGUE AND NOT HELPFUL. WEEKS LATER SHE CALLED AND WANTED ME TO SCHEDULE A SECOND APPT. WITH DR. SINGER. I NEVER WENT BACK!! THANK GOD MY SON HAS INTRODUCED ME TO THESE DR REVIEWS BECAUSE I'M USING THEM TO SELECT A NEW NEUROLOGIST WITH POSITIVE REVIEWS. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER WOULD I RECOMMEND DR. SINGER. HOW DOES HE STAY IN BUSINESS?????

Bad experience. Had the doctor deny me a refill for a prescription I cannot miss doses of (anti-seizure medication for EPT Tremor) and then refuse to fill it even after I scheduled an appointment 4 days later. Not the first time this has happened with him. I spoke to him on the phone and he claimed his office had tried to reach me prior, however they were using a phone number that has long since been abandoned (and which I have asked them numerous times to update) - so I had no idea they were in need of a visit. I tried to be reasonable but he seemed to take it personal and would not accommodate me.After denying me the refill he went on to take a cynical disposition and tell me that often times his clients schedule appointments, get a refill and then disappear. When I refuted this as a possibility, he began citing missed appointments from years back and became petulant and argumentative. I told him I had absolutely no aversion to coming in and he flatly dismissed me and said that I… did. I have never experienced this kind of behavior from a Doctor before. It was very personal and I didn't expect it.Near the end of the phonecall he took a dismissive tone and asked me to find another Doctor. I questioned his credentials as a responsible physician and he countered by questioning me as a good patient and then hung up the phone on me.So in addition to his office not responsibly making records, him orphaning me without medication when I offered up my highest availability for a consultation, and finally being unprofessional, personal and rude on the phone - I've decided that he's just not the guy for me.If you are curious about his style of treatment, it is somewhat passive and inconsequential. He prides himself on being a "listener" and really does not offer much insight or suggestion into a patient's condition - but primarily false sympathy. Add to that alot of backstroking and reassuring (including bizarre sympathetic facial expressions that you would expect a parent to make at a suffering child) during his sessions and really what it turns into is a self-diagnosis that he will typically endorse. I understand the tenets of psychological treatment but he is a psychiatrist and should be working more objectively and scientifically on medical issues and effective treatment - not giving patients a backrub and a perscription and sending them off.Ineffective and Unprofessional are the two main adjectives that come to mind when considering him. I'd say stay away and seek out a Doctor of higher caliber.As a footnote, I visited his office after the phonecall to settle a balance I had on my account. The receptionist reported, "I'm sorry for that crap on the phone". She then said the Doctor had filled my prescription and I retorted that I don't need a spite-refill. I phoned my GP and sorted it out.

Doctor Singer is a great doctor, he listens to my concerns and is easy to work with. His appointments are usually the same. He is very concerned about my well being. He is very prompt when prescribing sending prescribing my medicine after the pharmacy prescription has expired.He has a receptionist that is very rude over the phone - she has zero customer service skills over the phone but in person she is tolerable.

My first impression of Dr. Singer was that he was a nice man with a good sense of humor. He spent a good amount of time with me discussing my problem. However, as it turns out, he and his secretary are the most unprofessional health care workers that I have ever met. The lady at the front desk never answers the phone, and you can not get a hold of anyone to speak with for days. The one time that she did call me back she was rude and belittling, and was unwilling to provide any help regarding the matters pertaining to my visits. When I called the office to ask for help from the Dr. himself, he YELLED at me for having dared to call him or his secretary while they were "busy." I have never heard such a ludicrous reply to seeking medical help from a medical professional. I would strongly caution anyone considering this unstable individual's medical advice.

Dr. Paul Singer correctly identified the source of my increasingly severe headaches as Temporal Arteritis and immediately began treatment with Prednisone, saving me from blindness and perhaps death. He referred me to a surgeon to take a sample of the artery for biopsy and now has referred me to a rheumatologist for treatment.

Dr. Singer went into detail about previous tests I had taken before he was my doctor. Before proceeding with a change, he fully explained the implications. He looked at an EEG and explained the layout and individual marks, right down to the second. He was the first doctor to take me seriously regarding side effects of a previous medication. Whenever I had an issue while moving to my new medication, he returned my call, sometimes within minutes. Even when his office was closed, I was able to leave a message and have him call me back quickly.

Extremely rude doctor and staff

I am a little surprised by the negative comments, though I do see that two are actually written by the same person. My experience with Dr. Singer is the complete opposite. He took the time to go page by page, mark by mark over my EEG, and explained what each notation meant. That's something that no other neurologist has done, and I've been treated by many. He also listened when I said my medication might be making me depressed. Many other doctors had dismissed that. Now, I still may not end up changing meds, but at least he listened.
