Dr. Peter Forrest Holmes, MD

Dr. Holmes replaced both of my knees and wrote the order for PT, but on the second one I had no way to make a 60 mile round trip three times a week. My sister lives 30 miles away so for her to come get me and make a PT appointment would have been NINETY miles for an hour. Fortunately the case manager helped me get some home health care set up. Nevertheless, I highly recommend him to my friend and she in now caught up in a web of "we don't do that". Holmes won't authorize home health and said "he doesn't DO health care." His office said to call the insurance company but THEY said HOLMES would have had to that before the surgery. Her primary care won't touch it. She bled copiously when the needle for the pain ball was removed and the tape they stuck it down with ripped her skin off which is now red, oozing and excruciating. Dr. Holmes, I withdraw my recommendation. You may be a great surgeon but your lack of care and compassion are abysmal. You did both of her husband's knees as well as mine so that is five surgeries you profited from. You need to do better. Much, much, better.

I was pleased with the excellent care I received from Dr. Peter Holmes before, during, and after my hip replacement surgery. Dr. Holmes was always courteous and respectful. He listened to my concerns and gave me opportunities to ask questions, which he answered in a very professional, but caring manner. My recovery after my hip replacement surgery was smooth and complete under his guidance. I was impressed with Dr. Holmes' passion for his profession which was evident in the way he treated me as a patient.

If you need to get your life moving again with no pain, this is the guy to see. I have had knee pain for years. After surgery discussions about what the surgery entailed, what needed to be done and what I had to do after the surgery to help myself heal properly, I am almost virtually pain free. I would recommend Dr. Holmes and his staff to anyone wanting to get their life back. So glad I chose him!!!!

My total left knee replacement of two years ago continues to be problem free. Truly amazing since the left knee surgery my painful right knee improved to the point where it no longer causes me any discomfort.

I've been Dr Holmes patient for 20 years. He replaced both my knees then. Later he set a brutal spiral break in my humerus.He is caring but to the point when discussing your issues. I highly recommend this Dr.

I was wheel chair bound for 4 years; but after Dr. Holmes replaced my knees and my worn hip joints, my joint pain was reduced tremendously. I am walking again and am pain free. I am grateful that we have an orthopedic surgeon of his caliber in San Antonio and strongly recommend his services.

I’m extremely grateful for the awesome job Dr. Holmes did with both of my TKRs. Dr. Holmes & his staff kept me informed as to the process from start to finish. My first TKR recovery went well and at 8 weeks I was back to work with no restrictions! The second TKR went even smoother than the first. As with the first, I was cleared back to work with no restrictions. I am now pain free, except for the healing process pain (minimal). I went to several doctors before decided on Dr. Peter Holmes for my hip joint replacement surgery and that was the best decision I’ve ever made. He is an experienced and skillful orthopedic surgeon and his staffs are courteous and helpful. I appreciate his honesty and direct manner those are the qualities that I think every doctor should have. I highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for an orthopedic surgeon.

Dr. Holmes recently performed a knee replacement on my 83 year old mother. He did and amazing job and was incredible in his moral support and encouragement during her recovery. He is an outstanding doctor.

Dr. Holmes is wonderful. He has now replaced both of my 85 year old mother's knees, the second one during the covid crisis. His hospital and staff are top notch, especially his office manager, Bobbi. He has a wonderful personal manner, and a great sense of humor, which helps during these times. We would recommend him always, and feel we owe him a world of thanks.

Dr. Holmes helped me when no other doctor would. He did an extensive knee revision on me to fix the problems the first doctor I went to caused me 5 years ago. He's not only a great doctor, he's a loving, caring, generous, Christian man. He's THE BEST!

I was referred to Dr. Holmes for total knee replacement surgery. His office staff is excellent. He performed my first knee replacement and provided great follow up through the initial process. I had my second knee replacement one year later and had great results overall. At the one year follow up of my second knee he had concerns about a comment I made about my recovery and did xrays of my lower back to confirm what he thought was a contributing factor to the problem. He is an excellent doctor.

After an MRI showed a cyst, tear, tendinitis and bursitis in my hip, my PCP referred me to Dr Holmes. I waited almost an hour for him to finally make an appearance only to see him a max of 5 minutes. In that short time, Dr. Homes criticized my PCP, and basically belittled and humiliated me. He did not offer any information on what was going on with my hip, explain what bursitis is, etc (Google offered me much more info), but in the less than 2 minutes he was in the room with me, he did tell me that I had lost control of my life and that I needed to get to a gym. Apparently Dr Holmes does not know what it means to live paycheck to paycheck, living as a single mom on a teacher salary, with a kid in college (I really can't afford the bill I got at check out). But when I mentioned the tight budget, his response is "What is more important?" Well, maybe keeping my electricity on, or putting food on the table and providing for my kids! After he gave me the steroid shot, he parted the office by again reiterating that I needed to take control of my life. Not once did he mention a treatment plan (only to come back in a month), but I learned about the medication and PT orders from the receptionist when I got to the check out. He may be a brilliant surgeon (as I have read on other posts), but no one deserves to be degraded and humiliated. I went straight to my PCP and demanded a new referral. Never going back!

Dr H replaced both of my knees and they healed quickly and completely! Love this man!!

Dr. Peter Holmes is a gifted surgeon. He performed a total hip replacement on me. He was very interested in my recovery. In just 2 1/2 months I was walking all over Venice, Italy. I even climbed the steep stairs in St. Mark's. I have been & will continue to recommend Dr. Holmes. Oh yes, Dr. Holmes performed surgery on my husband's shoulder & saved it.
