Dr. Roopa Roy, MD

Well, I’m write negative reviews pretty rarely, but here was real danger to my health and I believe I should speak up. Key troubles from my experience with dr Roopa Roy: 1) Delay with urgent insulin prescription (2 weeks). At the first place, I asked for new insulin prescription because my old insulin was running out and probably get bad so I urgently needed new one. However I received it with significant delay (after second appointment) because dr Roy failed to sent it to pharmacy from first attempt 2) Wrong advice about insulin behavior. After it she switched my insulin from one to another type and told me that here is will be no difference, but, in reality, here was a difference because of these two different insulin have two different time profile. As result - different blood sugar behavior then I expected and multiple hypo incidents 3) Refusing to explain blood test result that she order for me. I was worried about some above the normal results from blood tests that she make me to… do - but dr Roy refuse to explain them to me “we don’t looking on them”. 4) Forcing to useless low-quality “educational” lessons at hospital. (that was not fully covered by insurance and cost $$$). To be honest, dr Roy was not the one to force and pushing on me (just one who did not care about horrible things that happened with me at her hospital). I asked her for pump prescription (eventually) and glucose control monitor prescription (urgent). She agreed that i need it but told me that she is new doctor here and she do not know how to do paperworks (???) and sent me to nurses. Nurses sells diabetic eduction classes ans after 1st visit i realize that they have very low understanding of difference t1d and t2d and low informed about modern medical devises. They refuses to sent paperwork about device to insurance company until I took like 6 lesson course (with small discount from insurance one lesson about 300$, so course is about 2000$) of “dialectical education” that my doctor never mention as necessarily (but at the same time she did protect me from extortion and threats ) 5) Intimidation from medical personal of Saint Peter Hospital. Not kidding, I mean this exact word. After I refused to take “educational” course from nurses and both insurance representative and device manufacturers did contact hospital and told them that here is no educational required for this device, my experience with Saint Peter Hospital became all about this - intimidation, lying, threating. Exactly: -creating delays (in getting urgent needed medical device, yes!), like telling me yes one day and no other day, ignoring phone calls, etc - telling me cool stories about “here is problem with your insurance, you not get approved, we can solve it only if you come in person” (wasn’t true), “we called device manufacturers and they told as that it is not possible” (also wasn’t true - device manufacturer representative never heard about this nurse calls) etc. - blackmailing me that they not going to sent prescription (that doctor write already) if i’m not agree to use their address as delivery address to make me come and pay at last once 6) Not availableness to talk ob phone even for urgent matter. With all those problems listed before ^^^ I was calling to doctor Roy and asking to talk with her almost every day for 3 (!!!) weeks. Nurses on phone was really rude, for example, put me on hold for 40 minutes, told me things like “you don’t need to talk doctor Roy will tell you the same things that I did” and “you called me for week if she wanted to speak with you she could call back already”. those was key points that put me in real danger. While i experienced all troubles from insulin changing (hight, sudden hypo incidents, vision changes, etc) and needed device for better sugar control urgently to avoid horrible highs and faints at work place from sudden lows - nurses keep threating me on the phone and insist that I should wait (wait until they file paper, then until educational nurse Lee Ann Redfern will be back from vacation, then i should come, pay, take the classes, and only after it can got my device - about 3-4 week more delay) and dr Roy keep ignored my calls. Happily, here was time came for appointment with normal doctor and whole process with getting the same device from fresh start took with him just a week (appointment, next urgent request to insurance, approvement and urgent delivery from provider - all they were agree that i was in horrible condition and needed better sugar control asap). Not sure how this could end up this if keep sticking with dr Roy. So, I definitely can’t recommend dr Roy and Saint Peter Hospital to anybody.
