Dr. Sarah Joy Swarts, MD

The best part of the 15min she spent with me was the handshake she offered, the only gesture of respect I received. She spent most of the time asking me to describe my symptoms (which are numerous), then she said that based on 3 lab tests ordered by the doctor who referred me that there was no reason to see her again. She didn't ask about any symptoms I might have forgotten. She didn't examine my body at all. When I asked about checking the various endocrine organs functions, she said there isn't a reason to test for something that doesn't have a pharmaceutical solution already approved and on the market. She didn't appear to be well educated in the scientific method. She talked down to me the whole time, even though I'm educated in biochemistry. She hastily left after I expressed my dissatisfaction with her rushed dismissive conclusion. I also heard her talking disparagingly about me through the walls as I was waiting for the nurse to escort me out. I wasn't looking for an answer to… my debilitating medical symptoms, I was looking to be treated like a human being, worthy of respect and hoped I might gain some insight into what could be happening in my body. Dr Swarts offered neither. In contrast, the nursing staff and receptionists were courteous and kind.

Dr. Swarts is a snide, mean, uncaring and rude person. There is no "good side" to her - she talks down to you, mocks you, treats you like a child all with a greater-than-thou attitude. She even got up without saying goodbye and ended my session early to slam the door on me for no reason. Dr. Swarts told me me before she even ran lab tests that she couldn't help me or find the reason for my severe medical conditions! Way to be supportive Doctor!

For me, Dr. Swarts has provided outstanding medical care and advice. I have great trust in her medical abilities and "next steps" that need to be accomplished in order to stay cancer free. She and her staff are compassionate and caring.

I have an autoimmune thyroid disorder, diagnosed 15 years ago. My 1st appointment was scheduled more then 1 month out. After a hectic move from CA I explained that I would be needing my Rx before that. But I was seem as scheduled and lectured on the importance of taking my Rx everyday. Without any blood work, I left with my same old exact Rx and dosage written with 3 refills, and a follow-up lab appointment and office visit to be scheduled 2-3 months away. This 15 minute visit cost over $500 ($90 of that out of pocket). I scheduled and got my labs done as told, but cancelled the office visit (as I did not have that kind of money to spend on having my lab results read to me) and asked that my Rx be refilled. I pharmacy was given a 10 day supply of my med and a note that an office visit would be required for any more. So I was forced to make the office visit at which Dr. Swarts again lectured and talked down to me; she even went as far as to say that my blood values were hideous and that… they'd stay that way without seeing her every three months! I saw my last doctor every 12 months and got labs checked every 4-6 months! She had my records and everything was well documented for her. Dr. Swarts comes off as snide and greater then art thou. As a patient that needs but maintenance treatment for an auto immune disease, I was shamed and treated like a child, I can only imagine how she reacts to people dealing with type 2 diabetes!
