Dr. Sebastian De La Fuente, MD

I was diagnosed with Stage I Pancreatic Cancer on January 6, 2023 and referred to Dr. Sebastian de La Fuente, an oncology surgeon, by my GI doctor. From our very first consultation with Dr. de La Fuente, my daughter and I were impressed by his compassion, empathy, and desire to help us navigate through this hitherto unknown medical situation. Dr. de La Fuente pulled up a stool and made eye contact with my daughter and me, smiled, and with a rare combination of humility and confidence, explained what my options were, and his plan of treatment for me. I felt totally at ease with him and trusted him immediately. Of course, I had already researched some of his patient reviews so I was not totally surprised by his excellent bedside manner. Dr. de La Fuente spoke to my daughter and me as if we were members of his own family, which dissipated some of the sheer terror I had been feeling since the diagnosis. He very patiently explained the surgery, hospital stay, the plan going forward,… and answered all my questions with a gentleness that I appreciated. Together with his medical team, Dr. de La Fuente visited me in the hospital every day for the five days I was hospitalized. One morning, he arrived at the hospital right after doing another surgery, when he could so easily have gone home to get some rest. This is a testament of how much he cares for his patients. There are no words to sufficiently thank Dr. de La Fuente for his excellent care of me and for the respect and dignity with which he has treated my daughter and me. The only way I can think to repay Dr de La Fuente for his excellent care of me is to pray for him and his family. I am scheduled to have chemotherapy for six months and Dr. de La Fuente has offered to put in the port for the chemo for me, which is very comforting to me. May Almighty God continue to bless Dr. Sebastian de La Fuente and his family and continue to use him to heal patients. Thank you, Dr. de La Fuente.
