I first visited Dr. Wason 5 years ago, and was the second urologist I had seen. Dr. Wason was the first to understand my issue was something different that I had previously thought and had been diagnosed with, and we embarked on a new treatment plan. He is caring, kind, and listens -- and the treatments seem very personalized and relevant to one's specific situation.

Dr. Wason is an amazing doctor with great expertise and an excellent bedside manner. He is thoughtful, attentive, and genuinely cares about his patients. I am very lucky to have found him. I had the Rezum procedure for BPH, and it went very well and solved my problem.

My Urinary Success To anyone reading this testimonial, please know it comes from a genuine patient and with real honesty. I can’t promise it’ll be short, but I believe the details are what matters. I was told about 5 years ago, 2021, that I had an enlarged prostate (benign) and a diverticulum in my urinary bladder. This was secondary to having donated a kidney 2 years prior. I was prescribed medicine to help keep my flow as good as it could be and not have it back up into my loner remaining kidney. Then my Urologist retired last year (2025). When it was time for my annual exam, I was told I would be switching care to a Nurse Practitioner, Leslie Coco (at first anyways) because it was a routine exam. This was in October of 2025. Going back about 8 months prior, I started to have more frequency but less flow. I even had a few episodes of leakage but nothing big. So that’s what I led off with on the day of my exam. Then the wheels fell off…. I was given a quick ultrasound to see… the volume in my bladder, and it took the NP by surprise. She was amazed at the amount of urine that was present and knew she had to get a more comprehensive US to see greater detail especially with the 1 kidney. I was told it may be a few weeks before they could schedule one. Then the NP and the nursing team made some calls and was able to get me over to the US right away as there was an opening miraculously. I was directed over to Radiology, had the US performed, and the results were read immediately. A new urologist, Dr. Shaun Wason, got involved and I was scheduled for a cystoscopy to look at the prostate and in the inside of my bladder. In the meantime, I was told I would have to perform self-catheterization to keep the urine storage to a minimum. I was directed over to Nurse Meaghan Peterson to be shown how to perform the procedure. Meaghan could not have been more professional, patient, and understanding as I had never had to do this before. I had to do this for a week before the cystoscopy could be performed. When the day came and the exam was to take place, Dr. Wason explained everything and what to expect. After he started, he was also amazed at the size of the prostate, bladder, and its diverticulum. A large amount of milky material was taken out of the diverticulum suggesting an infection. Post exam, Dr. Wason went over the suggested plan of action to include a HOLEP procedure to remove part of the prostate and allow for increased urine flow. A urine flow test was performed as a baseline and showed a drastic decrease in “normal” flow. Surgery was scheduled for a month later. Everything went as planned in the surgery and I was given instructions for care and follow-up. 4 days later the catheter was removed, and I could urinate on my own. I was told there may be leakage, pain, and some blood. I had none of these symptoms. Within 2 days, I was urinating like I had NEVER urinated before! The flow was fast, strong, and complete. There was no more urgency, frequency, or discomfort. What a complete 180-degree turn around just highlighting something I never knew was wrong or took for granted. Even my wife said she could now hear me urinating from the other room! Bottom Line: I got urgent, thoughtful, and wonderful care from the whole staff and team identifying, treating, and curing a problem I was unaware existed on a large scale and felt the concern from everyone to get it right, quick, and keep any damage from occurring in my one kidney. I’ve been under the care of Dr. Shaun Wason since the Summer of 2024 after an extremely painful kidney stone incident--which also revealed a larger stone that needed treatment. Throughout this process, Dr. Wason has been compassionate, knowledgeable, and incredibly supportive. In September 2025, he and his team performed a lithotripsy at Milton Hospital to break up the large stone, and I’m happy to say I’ve recovered well. What had felt like a cloud hanging over me for so long is finally lifting, and I feel hopeful and confident about preventing future stones. I’m truly thankful for Dr. Wason, his team, and his colleagues. I highly recommend him to anyone needing urological care.

I contacted Dr. Wason due to my worsening BPH which Had been plaguing me for a number of years. He subsequently performed a HOLEP procedure on me which greatly alleviated my condition. I was able to obtain an appointment with him within a week of my initial phone call. my initial call. Dr. Shaun Wason performed two successful minimally-invasive surgeries on my kidney in a high-risk kidney stone situation. I am back to completely normal without so much as a scar. I am very lucky to have found Dr. Wason. He is experienced, knowledgeable, skilled, and confident. He is friendly and has a great bedside manner. He is absolutely an "A-team" physician. HoLEP for BPH I am 73 with BPH and was suffering with extreme pain and nausea that caused me to be admitted to the ER for acute urinary retention with renal failure. At my initial consultation with Dr Wason, he described the procedure and assured me that this was realistically my only option. Throughout this process Dr. Wason has been highly attentive and responsive to all my questions and concerns. From start to finish he has proven himself to be a one-of-a-kind doctor who truly cares for his patient's health and well-being. After the surgery I experienced NO pain and very little discomfort post-op. Now my kidney values have improved to almost normal... urinary flow is normal and symptom free… a complete success. Dr. Wason solved my issue where others could not. I had BPH and had already undergone Green Light surgery which left me with urgency, frequency and retention issues and eventually self catheterization. I was told it was probably a lifetime of dealing with catheters. I saw another urologist who referred me to Dr. Wason. Dr. Wason felt that HoLEP surgery would solve my problem. It ABSOLUTELY did solve it. No more catheters, no getting up at night, no retention. Dr. Wason completely changed my lifestyle in a 1 hour procedure. I couldn't be happier.
