Dr. Stephanie A Nelson, PhD

Dr. Nelson provides an extremely comprehensive report and testing experience. She takes special care to make sure her clients are very comfortable and does not give every client the same battery of tests. She individualizes the testing experience to fully gather information to address the referral question. In my experience, Dr. Nelson does an excellent job supporting families in understanding their particular strengths and challenges to improve their overall functioning. She takes the time to sit down with both parents and children to explain the diagnosis, what it means, how to proceed, and how to utilize the information to reach potentials resources. She truly cares about her clients and goes above and beyond her duties to provide a valuable service. I appreciate the thoroughness of her reports and the time she takes to make sure you leave with not only a functional document, but a clear understanding of what that document means and how it pertains to future functioning. I… would highly recommend Dr. Stephanie Nelson because she has a wealth of knowledge, does not provide a "cookie cutter" report, and actually continues to help her patients beyond just their diagnosis by evaluating outside and additional factors.

Don't hesitate to bring your child to see Dr. Nelson! Her evaluations are thoughtful, detailed, and comprehensive. I've seen lots of psychologists and neuropsychologists over the years, and Dr. Nelson is truly one of the best. If you've had your child tested before, you know it can be scary. Dr. Nelson will take her time to make sure you and your child are comfortable and all of your questions are answered. Many other testers out there make you feel rushed, and at the end will tell you nothing new or helpful. Not so with Dr. Nelson. Her reports are like none other--completely tailored to your kid and EASY TO READ! She has seen it all and works with all kinds of kids with all kinds of problems! I recommend her wholeheartedly, as a parent and as a professional myself!!!

If you want to not only be listened to but "heard", you can not do better than Dr. Stephanie Nelson. Not only is she an amazingly skilled practitioner, she meets you "where you are" and develops a treatment plan that helps take you to where you need/want to be.

We had seen Dr. Nelson previously at her Bellevue location and were happy with her, but now that's she's in the new Seattle solo practice, things have been awful. Our little guy struggles with last minute changes, yet Dr. Nelson's office cancelled his evaluation less than 24 hours before the agreed upon date/time, which was tough on him. We got through it though, and had him evaluated. It was a MUCH shorter review, but Dr. Nelson claims this was because of streamlining the process? At any rate, we then made extensive plans for both my husband and I to come in for the Parent only meeting to discuss her findings (our children attend different schools and we both work, so we had to set up childcare for each child and my husband and I had to take a half day off of work since we are on the eastside and the new location is in Seattle). We were cancelled on with less than 5 hours notice this time. After we confronted Dr. Nelson about this, she apologized and offered to send a detailed… written report of her findings to us that week. It's been over 3 weeks since that conversation, and we still haven't received any findings. To say this process has been frustrating and a waste of time would be an understatement. We strongly suggest seeing another provider if you value your time!

Dr. Stephanie Nelson is the most knowledgable, thorough and thoughtful person I could ever recommend for conducting a Neuropsychological Evaluation for a child or an adult. Her ability to accurately assess a client's condition is unmatched, clearly communicated to the client and presented to the client in a way that always includes hope and a clear direction for the client to take.

Needed to have my son evaluated again for ADHD - her report was lacking she missed a lot, my son didn't enjoy the evaluation at all - waste of money !!!!!!
