Dr. Steven Lloyd Gershon, MD

Prior to a nerve test (EMG) my research revealed that the test can be painful and unpleasant. I was anxious about the procedure. During the procedure my anxiety was immediately gone. NO PAIN. Dr. Gershon provided a completely pain free nerve study. It is obvious to me that the pain felt by a patient during this procedure is clearly determined by the skill of the physician. Dr. Gershon has perfected a method of administering this procedure that is pain-free for patients. Other physicians clearly need to study his method and follow suit. I highly recommend Dr. Gershon for a painless EMG study.

Have been going there for 10 yrs. and I love the practice. I have gotten great care and Dr. Gershon & Charlie have both diagnosed and treated myself and my son each for a disease no other doctor could figure out. I have recommended this place to several of my friends and the ones that have gone there have been happy with their treatment there.

Billed 3 years later due to disarray of files. Do not put through my insurance company and put charges on my bill For services not rendered. Refer me to his lawyer to sue due to being in a motor vehicle accident, then proceeded to put charges on my account that did not Happen

Billed 3 years later because their filing system is in disarray for services not provided. Sent the patient to the doctors lawyer to sue the other driver in a motor vehicle accident. Had the patient sign a lien and did not explain they would not be billing the insurance company. The patient did not proceed with the lawyer and ended being billed for services not rendered. That is a shady deal

I shadowed Dr. Gershon for an entire day. Whenever possible, he took time to teach me about his methods and procedures. He truly cares about his patients and ensures that they receive the best possible care. I am baffled by some of these reviews. In my time with Dr. Gershon, he barely sat down. He was constantly running around from patient to patient, consulting with other doctors and doing everything in his power to alleviate his patients' pain. Dr. Gershon is compassionate, competent, and down-to-earth. I'll be referring all of my friends and family to him!

I just moved back to Virginia Beach. While in GA I had an L5 spinal fusion. I was in a great pain management practice post surgery as I am experiencing problems with my hardware and the recommendation is for the hardware to be removed once my spine has fused. I was on a low dose of Percocet daily and Mobic when needed. I saw Dr Gershon for all of 5 minutes. I had to sit and endure a proud lecture about how their practice doesn’t prescribe opioids. He yanked me off the opioids...ordered al kinds of tests...xrays...PT...and discussed spinal injections. I have has all these tests and PT and spinal injections didn’t help. I tried to tell him and his aloof, doesn’t make eye contact, treats you like you don’t know your own body Nurse practioner, doesn’t listen to you Charlie my history. Neither seemed to care. He gave me a script for Butrans patch. A MEDICATION MY INSURANCE doesn’t cover! The prescription authorization sat at his office for a week. I had to call the office myself on a Friday to get things moving and was told they close at noon and no clinical staff were there. I had to pay 300 dollars for some patch I wasn’t sure was going to work but might help with withdraw from Percocet. They could care less. The girl who answered the phone raised her voice at me and said... I told you the insurance person leaves at 12. So I am on the patch for a couple of days...I have a constant headache, muscle aches, and raging pain from my back to my foot. Thanks Doc...sarcasm...what a horrible experience. Reading reviews on new pain management clinics.

I don’t understand how a doctor who has certification in the administration of pain medication and treating fibromyalgia can be so useless. He and his nurse are dismissive and rude. Dr Greshon as a waiting room full of patients but, I doubt anyone with chronic pain will find relief from his practice and will be referred, as I was. The doctor acted extremely irritated that I should have even made an appointment at his office. He asked if I had even looked at his website to see that he did not prescribe narcotic pain medication. No, I hadn’t. I said he had been recommended by two family members who had lower back pain. ( Now I realize he just gives them injections...and non-narcotic pain meds.). I explained I have living with pain since adolescence and I felt beaten down by it. His only reply was he couldn’t help me. I realize he did not even want to try. This man is a narcissist and has little compassion. His clinic is just a business. If you have Fibromyalgia and chronic pain you are wasting your time. No sympathy or help at this clinic.

People were friendly ,professional, and good at what they do ,but beware ! Anyone who charges you 1,300.00 for a 250.00 back brace is a CROOK ! So ask before you leap.

I would never recommend Dr gersgon to anyone. He is rude, egotistical and oblivious. After a major surgery on my brain, he told my surgeon not to give me anything. I went 4 days without proper post op care. Mary Jo fixed it when I went it. She is kind, compassionate and willing to learn about my rare illnesses.

Dr. Has seen me twice in many years. His top PA has a very bad attitude they call her Charlie. The practice has expanded not to treat for the abundance of patients with pain but because they have gone into weight loss clinics and other healthy things to make $$. Patients with much pain like me are not able to excersise I already eat properly, I came to get pain treatment not what you ha this dr has over the years decided he thinks is going to help me!!!! And I must say his front staff is rude! I could go on and on but I won't.

Misdiagnosed nerve damage prescribed Ultram causing severe allergic reaction 4hen said that was the only medication available for my pain and limp

Not particularly thrilled with his nuse practioner Charlie. She seem's to be very judgemental of other doctors and their therapy course. I some aspects work why disturb working therapies?

Don't waste your money and time! Dr. Gershon and the staff are some of the rudest people I have met. Plan on staying for 2 hours before you're seen and expect nothing other than a referral for another pain management clinic.

Excellent doctor and helped resolve my pain issue quickly

I have been at the management center for a year & have YET to met Gershon!!! They are doing absolutely nothing for me. My pain has gotten so severe that I am retiring this summer. Goodbye Gershon.

my 1st appt with dr g was extrelemly thorough, I was so thrilled to have relief from pain and I really liked his holistic and whole person treatment. Every appt thereafter has been rushed...that is if he even comes in the room! I always make my appts when he is on intentionally and tell the office staff and clinical staff that I wish to see him on my visit. I dont fee as though his PAs really listen to their patients. All staff seem to be on the "cool" side. I work in a pediatric hospital so possibly I am used to more warm and fuzzies, however I am still the client. I feel as though I am just a number now....for instance I had to take a urine test for a 30 pill med that had no refills and I had 20 pills left in the bottle at the end of the 3 months!....they still had me take a urine test at my expense! And prescribed treatment without even looking at the recommendation from the physical therapist and nutritionist who he sent me to.

waited forever to see DR, 2nd visit saw someone else. Medication did not help. I wanted to find solution to pain and correct the problem.

I started seeing Gershon bk in 2014 & bk then he helped me with medicine to control my pain. But about 6 months into it he took me off my pain med & said the FDA told him he could not prescribe any type of pain meds for arthritis/fibro patients any longer. So, he put me on Savella & gave me trigger point injections & told me I need to exercise more!!!! I was willing to try it, along with medicine that was "approved" by the FDA which ended up being anti-inflamatories. He told me if they didn't work the next step would be codeine. YEA RIGHT!!! Never happened!!! So, I ended up ceasing my treatment with him & turning to more natural remedies. Well, hurt my neck SUPER bad recently & reluctantly went back to him... BIG MISTAKE....he talked a good game, when I FINALLY got to see him(about an hour pass my apt time), but the medicine he gave me was not covered thru my insurance & when I called to get something else short term till the dr could write a letter to my insurance & hopefully get it covered, I was screwed around for 2 days!!!! And found out my insurance had called them & given them other options on ones they do cover. BUT, he doesn't write those types of prescriptions!!! EXCUSE ME???!!! I thought I was at a pain clinic!!! UNREAL!!! Not to mention how VERY rude they were, & the fact that my insurance had to tell ME that they had called them with alternative meds for him to write me, HE JUST DID NOT WANT TO!!!!!! So, their fix to all this, refer me to another pain Dr!! HOLY COW, really??!! I thought I was at a PAIN CLINIC??!! WOW.... STAY AWAY FROM THIS DR......he thinks he's God & has all the answers when in real life, HE HAS NO CLUE!!!!! Staff at the front desk is rude & spends more time gossiping than doing their job & the PA's have gotten as bad as the dr.... at least the one I saw & had to deal with on the phone, & it's a shame because that particular PA was one of my favs from when I 1st started going, but, now she's acting more like dr. gershon. Truly hope his practice tanks so his patients can go to a true pain dr. & get the help they need....would give 0 stars if there was a button for that but since there isn't I'm giving 1 star for each.....

Was a patient for three years. Only saw Dr. Gershon personally twice after complaining that my pain was unresolved and that my treatment was going nowhere. On my last appointment, I waited over an hr and then after asking staff why my wait was so long, I was told that the nurse practitioner who saw me normally was no longer there and someone else would be seeing me. It would have been nice to know that when I checked in. The office manager is very rude and condescending and has terrible customer service. I was supposed to be on a payment plan, but they only take payments in the office (not over the internet, phone, or automatically out of your account) and they will try to force you into paying more than agreed during your office visit. I will not be going back to see Dr Gershon and I advise anyone not to waste their time as well.
