Dr. Steven Michael Puopolo, MD

I went to see Dr. Puopolo for injections in both of my risks. His PA came in first asking some questions and we determined that I would get Cortisone injections in both wrists. After putting the medicine in the needles he threw the needles on the bed, and then threw the band-aides and gauze. He left out of the room and then returned with a machine to take a sonogram of my wrists for the doctor to insert the needle. He left the room and didn’t say anything. After a good while he returned with Dr. Puopolo who applied the needles with the medicine. He told me it would probably get me through the summer. He wished me a happy summer and sent me on my way. I get to the waiting room and all of a sudden my hands are hurting and going numb. I ask the receptionist to ask the doctor if this is normal. She was very polite and went to ask. The person who was at the door checking patients in overhead and says to me, “he mixes the cortisone with lidocaine so it’s going to be numb”. I told… her well that wasn’t explained to me so I had no idea what to expect since this was my first time. The receptionist came back and told me the doctor said that’s completely normal. I was very upset because nothing was explained to me. I thought something was very wrong because I was walking out with more pain than what I went in with. He didn’t take the time to explain to me what to expect after the shots which would have saved me from the worry I was feeling. I will not be returning. I’m not saying he is a bad doctor, I’m just saying that his lack of care and communication with me was unacceptable. Time to find a new doctor that takes the time to talk to their patients.

I've used the medical group that Dr. Puopolo is in for a number of the surgeries I needed, so when I had problems with my hands I when to Dr. Puopolo. I'm sorry to say I didn't get the service I expected. I didn't feel he has the concern for his patients that I come to expect. While he is probably a good doctor he keep me waiting the first two times I had appointments with him... But on the last appointment I sat in the exam room for 45 minutes, until I left. The disregard for his patients are inexcusable. While they called my office and left a message that I could make another appointment to come in. That is something I will not do, there are other doctors out there that respect their patients.

Please note - I am forced to click a star otherwise it would be no stars at all. I had tigger release survey almost 4 weeks ago. The pad to my finger was swollen and purple - red in color when I did my 1 week follow ip with the PA - told me it was normal (????) three weeks later it is no better. Call Dr Pupolo's office and left a message for him to call me. NO return call. Called again ( by then it was after hours) and spoke to an on call dr who stated "the surgeon needs to look at it.. call in the morning for an appointment". So here i am - I called and the receptionist told me the dr is in surgery all day today. He gouty message yesterday ( then why didn't I get a call back). She wanted to give me an appointment with the PA -NO i want to surgeon to see it... He's not available till Tuesday 6 days from now. Hmmmmmm glad my finger is not falling off. So I will go to the emergency room and see another doctor. reported this to my insurance company and will report… t to the medical board. This is Caring for a patient???? Think NOT Maybe he needs to each his staff to be understanding, They say your staff can make or break you... this one is broken

My husband and friend had gone to see him helped them both out with hand. Having a little trouble with my hand and recently called the office Thanks Judy M.

Doctor Puopolo is very caring and has a good sense of humor and knows his craft well.

Delightful man. Knows what he is doing even when he's talking. He has treated me many times and has preformed surgery twice on my hands. I will continue seeing him if I need him again.

Excellent doctor. Repaired my thumb and did a great job. Tiny scar.

Dr. Puopolo is very kind and very professional, my father in law was involved in a motorcycle accident upstate fracturing his wrist requiring surgery. Dr. Puopolo not only took his case he performed an amazing surgery! As an xray tech by profession I was amazed at how well his wrist looked on film post op. My father in law has had no problems since surgery and my family and I are forever grateful to him.
