Dr. Yoon is great! She's a doctor's doctor! In her care, I was confident that I would receive the best care I could find. Her expertise and caring manner makes her special. Words can not express my gratitude for Dr Yoon and the dignity she gave me during a vulnerable time in my life. Dr Yoon performed reconstructive surgery following my double mastectomy. The surgery was a wonderful success and other doctors on my care team have expressed their praise for Dr Yoon’s work when they see the discrete surgical scars. Dr Yoon was masterful in her surgical work but it was her delicate care of my uncertainty, discouragement and need to have control in a process that was new to me that earned my loyalty to her. I found Dr. Sung Yoon as a very experienced, knowledgeable and compassionate plastic surgeon. She’s very patient and takes the time to explain anticipated procedures in a language I could understand and the pros and cons of each possible decision I had to make regarding reconstruction and implants. She’s a terrific listener and always asked if I had any questions. She made herself available before and after surgery and went as far as calling to check on me my after my reconstruction surgery. Extraordinary is the only way I know how to describe Dr. Sung Yoon. I have been a patient of hers for 9.5 years: soon to celebrate 10 years of Breast Cancer Survivorship..... I found her to be patience, taking the time to explain the anticipated procedures step by step and the pros and cons of each possible decision to myself and husband, feeling empowered and encouraged afterwards. For the last 9.5 years, I have come to know many kinds of Doctors; from specialties to general practice, and i MUST say Dr. Sung Yoon is at the very top of the list. She is an extremely Wise,, Knowledgeable,Intuitive, Consistent, Conservative, and a Compassionate kinda of Doctor. Her bedside manners are superb. Prior to consulting with Dr. Yoon, I returned to the plastic surgeon who augmented my breast. He examined my breasts and casually informed me that he could remove the current encapsulated implants and replace them. He was not concerned with the red skin and failed to recommend additional tests prior to scheduling a surgery date. I was unhappy with the conversation that I had with my original plastic surgeon so I researched and found Dr. Yoon. I consulted with Dr. Yoon almost a year ago today to discuss removing my textured silicone implants. They were encapsulated and throbbing. She thoroughly examined the red skin and prescribed testing of the unique reddish skin tissue under my right breast. It did not itch like a rash but it was worrisome. Bottom line is she wanted to rule out breast cancer. She recommended skin and MRI tests to determine the cause of the redness. In addition, she prescribed other standard pre-surgery lab work such as blood work and a physical from my primary care… physician to clear me for surgery. She recommended the implants be removed in the very near future. She also invited me to get a second opinion and offered to provide names of other Board approved surgeons in the area. After meeting with Dr. Yoon, I was 100% confident that she 150% committed to taking care of me with the best quality of care possible. I was comfortable with her and she was clear and concise with all of the medical terminology. She went above and beyond with requesting lab work prior and after surgery to ensure that I did not have the rare cancer BIA-ALCL which is not a breast cancer but it is a type of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (cancer of the immune system). In most cases, BIA-ALCL is found in the scar tissue and fluid near the implant, but in some cases, it can spread throughout the body. Her expertise is astounding. She conducts due diligence to each patient. I highly recommend her because it is clear to me that she is committed to the safety and well being for each patient. She is an expert in the field of medicine, surgery and post-surgery care. Since I she successfully removed the encapsulated and painful breasts (with small scars), the quality of my life has increased hundred fold. I can exercise and participate in all activities -- pain free. My sleep has improved also since the implants are causing discomfort during the night. I wish her the best in her professional and personal endeavors.

Dr. Yoon is a wonderful person, doctor and plastic surgeon. I first met her in her Vienna, Va. office following a second encounter with breast cancer. Because of my history of thyroid cancer, breast cancer in my right breast and then 11 years later breast cancer in my left breast, I knew what the option for me was...a second mastectomy and reconstruction surgery for the second time. When my breast surgeon recommended me to Dr. Yoon I had no idea how it would go, as I was really pleased with the surgeon who did my first reconstruction, but he was no longer offering that to breast cancer patients. My first appointment with her went better than I could have imagined! She was warm and welcoming to my husband and I and she spent a great deal of time explaining everything thing that was going to take place in the process to us both. She offered written information explaining further the procedures I was facing, knowing that sometimes in this situation people aren't always listening as… attentively as they ought because many things are running through their minds. She made herself available to me and my husband for any questions we may have at any time during the process. I'm glad I was sent to her as my plastic surgeon. She continues to keep me up to date about changes in the field of reconstruction and implants, even calling me personally instead of waiting for me to see her at my next appointment to share information. She is a very kind and personable doctor. She not only cares about the medical aspect of why you are there, but gets to know you as a person and talks "with" you and not at you. I would highly recommend her to anyone facing reconstruction following a bout with breast cancer.

My entire experience with Doctor Yoon was wonderful and I have absolutely no regrets choosing her as my Plastic Surgeon. Beginning with our initial consultation, and with every encounter thereafter, I found her to be very comforting. Dr. Yoon was focused on ME and MY apprehensions, and guided me through the entire lumpectomy process. I had 1,000 questions and she provided me with 1,000 answers. I am quite sure that my questions were ones that she has fielded many, many times before, however she was very thorough in her answers and I never felt like she was processing me as just another patient. Dr. Yoon brought peace and calm to an otherwise stress filled experience. For a myriad of reasons, I encourage you to consider Dr. Yoon for your surgical needs.
