Dr. Thomas R. Lyon, MD

I fell and broke my right wrist while rollerskating and I feel so fortunate that I was in the proximity of NYU Langone in Sunset Park and Dr. Lyon!! Dr. Lyon is calm, kind and really skilled. I trusted his knowledge and experience completely. I was clearly nervous waiting to enter the operating room and he soothed me by acknowledging the validity of my fears, while assuring me that I would be ok by saying "I know this is a big day for you, but for me, I do this everyday." I knew I was in the best hands even when mine weren't functioning. Each post-opp appointment has been conveniently quick, but thorough.

I saw doctor Lyon 2 times after breaking my collarbone. He was cavalier, rushed, and patronizing. He said that I did not need surgery. If I was in pain, he recommended drinking a large glass of red wine. My bone was sticking out of my back. Dr Lyon referred to this bone as “a bump.” “You have a big bump,” he said. He said the bone, which was misplaced by half an inch, would grow back on its own. I was incredulous, but Lyon affirmed that everything was fine and hurriedly walked out of the room. I got a second opinion, and the other doctor was shocked. “Just by looking at your shoulder, there’s clearly something wrong,” he said. A week later, I got surgery, and there is no longer a bone sticking out of my back. Aside from Lyon’s poor care, his sullen staff is disorganized to the point of total confusion. Why go here? Why trust someone who doesn’t take time with his patients? Why put your health in the hands of someone who offers snap, incorrect advice? There’s so many great doctors in… New York. Dr. Lyon is unfortunately not among them.

If it wasn't for the accident I would never have met this wonderful doctor - he rebuilt my legs bones and gave me an ankle - I'm walking! They (hospital) wanted to cut my leg off - then Dr. Lyon stepped in - and saved my mangled leg and crushed ankle.Truly is a wonderful doctor and a decent person.Only one thing - don't use his referrals - he tends to refer to his buddies who are not like him.
