Dr. Tirso Mark Lara, MD

Dr Lara showed great knowledge, confidence and yes patient caring throughout my visit and Treatment. His competency and time taken to listen and Understand and then suggest and treat the condition was welcome. His Staff, many apparently dedicated to him irrespective of the office seen reflected the doctors actions… they truly acted as a team that cared. In a world that seems to be always in a rush - Dr Lara and Staff took the time to listen, diagnose, listen again and then treat. Keep it up!!!

Dr Lara is the most patient and caring doctor I've seen. He explains everything in detail and is thorough in his explanations.

I had a retina reattachment surgery few years ago, back in Texas, and when I moved here I did not pass the driver license vision test. I thought my retina was giving me problems again. I did a google search and I saw Dr. Lara's credentials and I got an appointment with him. I am glad I picked him, because he is such a professional and kind person. I recommend him if you are having retinal problems.

Dr Lara is probably a decent doctor for most conditions. He did however, repeatedly examine me for some severe problems and told me point blank that I had a "benign brain tumor." In fact, it was normal tension glaucoma which is a fairly common condition, although not the predominant one. I was left with no support or follow-up after that diagnosis. Thankfully, I went immediately to Bascom Palmer and in one day they were able to correctly diagnose it, and that was after 4 visits to the FLEI!!! Dr. Epstein scheduled me for eyelid surgery and I was the one to cancel that because droopy eyes was obviously not the problem. Save your eyes and go to BP or another reputable institution. By the way, i had cataract surgery here by Dr. Skolnick and it was good. So stick to cataract or similar surgeries not diagnosis here.

My Ophthalmologist sent me to Dr Lara after determining that I had a retinal detachment. I was sent directly to his office with no appointment, but Dr. Lara fit me in immediately and performed surgery that afternoon. That was on a Friday and he had me come back the next day, on a Saturday, taking time out on his day off, to check on me. In the follow-up appointments, Dr. Lara and his staff were wonderful, caring and professional. I would recommend Dr. Lara to anyone who is having similar issues. After waiting 2 1/2 hours in for my scheduled appointment with a minute exam and having the same torn retina issue in the other eye refusing to see me until the referral papperwork is through.The doctor is leaving the office not caring that I may go blind waiting. Horrible horrible office staff that I will never go back to or recommend.

I was faced with a retinal detachment. There was nothing I could do and was in danger to lose my sight. Dr. Lara was exceptional during the entire process. The surgery was hard, the recovery was harder, and losing perfect vision was hardest but Dr. Lara and the staff did a super job. I have 20/25 vision today and appreciate very much his demeanor, his candor, and his expertise. I would highly recommend him if you need this done.
