Dr. Tricia Linelle Scheuneman, MD

This woman has an issue with controlling her ego when the patient or patients family advocate for themselves. My mom was given a drug called reglan by this woman when she was admitted to Parkridge East hospital and was not informed of the adverse effects (Tardive Dyskinesia, Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome) associated with this drug. My mother is 85, diabetic, on antidepressants and has heart failure on top many other health conditions that would make her be at a higher risk for developing these severe side effects that are potentially irreversible and/ or fatal. Once I brought this to Ms. Scheuneman attention and asked why she failed to mention this before administering this medication, she became very defensive and let her ego get in the way of her expected professionalism. She gave the excuse that she didn't disclose this information because it was late (6pm) and she didn't have time to discuss and that all the other patients she's seen have never had a reaction to this medicine.… She then began to sarcastically question me as to whether I had also researched the adverse effects of my mom's other medications and if I questioned the other doctors that prescribed those. She also said that she has access to other information that I wouldn't be privileged to have access to because I did not know anything about or work in that field and insinuated that my mom would die at home under my care before she would with her. She then with an attitude decided, oh I'm just going to keep her another night in the hospital (definitely out of spite). Needless to say, we did not appreciate her arrogance and failure to take accountability for her mistakes that could have caused harm/death to my mother and brought forth law suits to her and the hospital. Microaggressions, paternalism, and dismissiveness. A simple question and/or advocating for yourself or loved ones should never ever warrant these types of responses and behavior from a healthcare professional. I hope in the future Ms. Scheuneman learns to control her temper and ego when a patient or their loved ones questions her actions or choose to advocate for themselves.

this woman abused my father at the clarksburg va medical center. She will be reported to Justice, Manchin and the state medical board. If you care about your loved ones DO NOT let her around your family!
