I've been seeing Dr. Layton since Sportsmed first opened when I was 14. When I blew my knee out in high school, he dropped everything and had my mom immediately take me to see him. He was devastated to tell me high school ball was over for the year. I had to have another surgery in 2007 to clean up some cartilage. I'm on my 3rd procedure for my knee with him and I don't trust any other doctor to look at my knee. He isn't cut happy either. He always does conservatives measures first. He truly cares about my well being and I love Dr. Layton!

Dr. Layton did my original right knee replacement, after about 5 months I started having pain and difficulty walking. I stressed to him that there was something wrong but he insisted it was just normal and to wait it out for a year until it was fully healed. The pain increased and was so severe by 8 months I was back to using a cane and could not physically do even my simple daily chores. I made another appointment and Dr. Layton took xrays and insisted there was nothing wrong and suggested I get a second opinion. He made no suggestions as to what this could be and it seemed as though he implied it was just “head pain” or it simply was not as bad as I was explaining. At that point I knew he was not going to give me proper medical care and that I needed to go elsewhere for help. I found another doctor who immediately started to run test to find out what was wrong with me. I was diagnosed with Tibial loosening, which simply means the cement used in my knee implant did not bond to the… bone. My implant was basically free moving and what was causing such horrific pain. I was scheduled for a second replacement and that has gone perfectly. I very much feel Dr. Layton ignored my complaints, did nothing to try and solve the issues I was experiencing and had zero idea of what could possibly be going wrong. I am sure he is great if everything is going well but he certainly did not step up in any way to help me when things went wrong. I went through months of agony that could have been avoided if only he took me seriously and did his job to find out what was wrong. I have never experienced a doctor who had no sense of empathy for a patient and no feeling of obligation to correct a failed surgery until Dr. Layton. For those considering any surgery with Dr. Layton please think long and hard about this before using him. I don’t wish this outcome on anyone.

He did a great job on my meniscal tear and plica band problem. He is an incredible surgeon and he's a great person too!

My experience with Dr. Layton and his group was excellent all around! The staff was friendly and very prompt with calling back regarding questions and prescriptions. Dr. Layton did not rush through any of the appointments and made sure to make me feel comfortable and let me know all of my options.

He is a great surgeon and has really great bed side matters. He got right on to doing test to make sure what was going on got me on in and done my surgery . Thank you for a wonderful staff as well.

Dr. Layton is an excellent and caring doctor. He takes time to both listen to and work with the patient. He does not have the condescending manner many doctors seem to have either because they are too busy or they really do think they are better than everyone else. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TROY LAYTON BOTH AS A DOCTOR AND AS A REALLY NICE PERSON.
