Dr. Richard Dale Culpepper, MD

In all of my life and with doctor's appointments a many, no one has been on time until now. I have never had to wait more than just a couple of minutes. I have had many conversations in the past, due to late appointments, in which I compared my billable hourly rates to the doctor's in which many cases ended up in a total argument and in a couple of cases me never even going to the follow up appt. This doctor and their professional staff are obviously very aware that other people's time are also very valuble. Additionally, they are all very accommodating and very responsive to questions that you may have regarding your issues. TOP NOTCH!!!!

My experience with Dr. culpepper and the nurse Vickie was as good as it gets if you have medical issues. Dr. Culpepper was a very good communicator, did not rush me, and he consulted with another doctor to confirm his opinion on my treatment. That, to me, is the sign of a conscientious and caring doctor. His nurse, Vickie, was efficient, friendly and a good communicator, too. My experience at Sports medicine was completely positive.

Dr. Culpepper is an excellent surgeon who has replaced my left knee and right hip. He listens to questions and answers them thoroughly and professionally. He never talks "down" to the patient. His office staff, particularly Vicki, is professional, courteous, and caring. I have recommended him to my friends.

My experience with Dr. Culpepper goes back many years. He has done arthroscopic surgery of both of my shoulders and replacement surgery on one shoulder. He also did rotator cuff surgery on my wife. Our opinion of him is all good. I don’t recall ever having to wait very long after arriving for an appointment, nor do I recall ever having to wait a long time to get an appointment, like several weeks. He has always been friendly and has patiently answered all of my questions, even though he is obviously a busy doctor. He has explained different options for treatment when relevant. He has no problem consulting with other doctors (as a team) to be sure of the best treatment options. After surgery he always visited me in the hospital in a timely manner. He coordinated well with my physical therapist (not connected to SportsMED) during about 10 weeks of therapy following my shoulder replacement. His nurse Vicki Montgomery is very responsive and a pleasure to interact with. One thing that is… especially noteworthy about Dr. Culpepper is what I’ve heard other people in the medical business say about him. Two doctors at The Orthopedic Center have told me, more than once, that they sure wish Dr. Culpepper had joined them when TOC was organized. One day when I went by SportsMED to pick up an envelope of information the receptionist at the front desk saw Dr. Culpepper’s name on the corner of the envelope and asked if he was my doctor. I said “yes” and she said “he’s a good doctor;” she then paused, seemingly rethinking what she had said, and then said “he’s a really good doctor.” Not long ago my wife bumped into a former nurse of Dr. Culpepper (Jo Moran) at some type of get-together. When the subject of Culpepper came up she was very complimentary of him. I can recommend, without reservation, Dr. Culpepper to any prospective patient. Emory Lynn

Dr. Culpepper has been my "go to" orthopedic MD for actually more years than I can remember! He has done repairs on a shredded Achilles's tendon, a torn meniscus, torn rotator cuff, and shoulder repair following a fall, with no torn rotator cuff. He is quite willing to start with the least invasive treatment, whether it is medication, therapy, or cortisone shot and work towards healing at a pace and/or method that is comfortable for me. He fully explains the process and works with a timeline to get me back to full capacity as quickly as possible. I am 70 years young and participate in 5K - 10K races almost weekly and I couldn't do that without his treatment and support.

My husband & I have gone to Dr.Culpeppe for more than 20 years. He is a very knowledgeable & friendly doctor. He is our first choice for an orthopedic surgeon.we highly recommend him.His nurse Vickie ie very competent as well.

I had a hip replaced and Dr. Culpeper did the surgery . He was so nice to me. He made sure to keep my pain level down. I would highly recommend him . I even sent my granddaughter to see him for her hip problems. He is a very understanding Doctor , to all your needs.

Dr. Culpepper is a great doctor. He listens and is very interested, His nurse Vicky is fabulous. They are so efficient. I have never had to wait. The whole staff is great. No waiting in the waiting room. No waiting for X-ray. And above all, no waiting to see the doctor. Very well managed.

Dr. Culpepper has done arthroscopic surgery on both my shoulders and my left knee. He also did a complete shoulder replacement of my right shoulder. Each time he gave me an understandable explanation of my condition--he used English instead of medical-ese. Each time he let me know what the surgery would entail. Dr. Culpepper is an excellent surgeon. His nurse, Vicky, is very personable. She is always hustling to keep things moving in an orderly manner.
