Dr. Bruce Irving Minkin, MD

I’m a 21 year old female. I just had photos pop up from a year ago after my surgery with Dr. Minkin. Prior to surgery, I had 7+ years of on and off recurrent pain and the inability to workout and bench press or do push-ups from being a base in cheerleading in middle school. My wrist was never the same since. I couldn’t do the things I wanted and needed to do! I was in school to be an Ultrasound tech and using my right wrist was a necessity for scanning. I finally decided to get it checked out after being skeptical for years. I also had a recurrent ganglion cyst on the same wrist, not helping with the issues. Decided to get surgery towards the end of my schooling, worried it could ruin my future career, or make me fail school if I couldn’t pass my scan finals and tests. After the surgery and getting my cast off, I was so scared because it was stiff. Doing my own stretches and physical therapy multiple times a day but never pushing it too far was the key, after a week, I could tell… things would be different. Couple months went by, still stretching and slowly pushing its abilities further and further, I was able to do so much more than before! Now here I am a year later, able to do hand stands, bench press, push-ups with absolutely no issues. Dr. Minkin removed the origin of my ganglion cyst, as well as smoothed out some damaged cartilage that must have been there since my middle school years. I was 20 at the time and had to pay for my surgery myself, while in school, and it was the best decision of my life! I am so thankful. God truly blessed me, and the team involved in my surgery!

At 45, I experienced severe arthritis in the base of my thumbs. A previous hand surgeon described them as the thumbs of an 80-year-old, yet did not want to operate and limit my mobility. I consulted Dr. Milkin, who immediately told me he could fix my thumbs and help my chronic pain. At that point my thumbs were not in the correct place and bone on bone. Even at rest I was in horrible pain. After my first surgery I knew immediately it was a success. After my first thumb properly healed my second thumb was next and Dr. Minkin achieved the same results. All of my interactions with Dr. Minkin and his staff and the office and surgery center were professional and detailed. All questions were asked and the good doctor personally called me the day after surgery each time. I recommend Dr. Minkin for any hand surgery. If I had more thumbs to repair, I would go back.

Dr. Bruce Minkin is not only a skilled hand surgeon, he is a very caring person. He took the time to listen to the problems I was having with my hand. I had seen other doctors over the years, and he is the only one who was finally able to help me. He even called me at home the morning after my surgery to check on me. I am forever grateful to him. Our community is lucky to have him.

If I could give negative stars, I would. Dr. Minkin told me that my only option was to have surgery (on my broken pinky). After he performed the surgery, my finger was stuck in a bent position. He said, "I thought that might happen." Why did he not tell me that might happen? Instead, he insisted I undergo a second surgery to "fix it". Two surgeries and $10,000 later, my pinky is rendered almost useless. He is a trigger happy surgeon; he is rude and unthoughtful. With all the great surgeons out there, do yourself a favor and skip this one.

I found dr. Minkin to be nice, but he seemed careless and impatient with my concerns- saying ‘there’s nothing wrong with your hand it’s fine’ and when I tell him I can’t play guitar - and after two treatments it’s worse than ever- he just seemed a bit irritated, instead of concerned, amid dismissed many of my questions. I won’t be going back to this man.

I had run my hand into a table saw and Dr. Minkin did the surgery. He did a good job with what he had to work with. He may not be all PC like a lot of others but he knows his trade. If you want PC and not experience keep looking. If you want experience and knowledge, call Dr. Bruce Minkin.

My husband was referred to him through Mission St Jos ER dept. He was so rude & condescending to my husband; acting like my husband was un-educational; talking to him like he was an idiot. He judged my husband right off the bat. The Nurse rewrapped his thumb using cotton; ER specifically said No cotton; use non stick pads. She places cotton all in the wound with stitches; he picked cotton out for several days. Just a rude dr. to some people apparently. Ask for another Dr. they refused. It's horrible. My husband still doesn't know after waiting 1 1/2 hrs what he could've done to this dr. when the dr. didn't spend 1 1/2 mins with him.

Dr. Minkin performed several hand surgeries on my husband with excellent results. His hands are now as good as new, thanks to Dr. Minkin. And his physical therapy department is excellent, too.

I had surgery on my thumbs in 2008 & 2009. Now I can do anything I ever did with no pain.I excerised my hands as I was supposed to & I would do the surgery over if I was having the kind of problems I did before. Thank God for Dr Bruce Minkin.

Dr Bruce Minkin is one of the best doctors I have ever interacted with and I have been an RN for several decades. He is not only knowledgable, but is skilled at patiently explaining injuries and procedures to his patients and their families. In addition to myself, I have several family members who have been treated by him with great success, even for very complex procedures. I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone needing his skillset.
