Dr. Uma Kumarappan, MD

PLEASE do you research on this Dr. before you go, in fact she is no longer a doctor, she has lost her license permanently, she is practicing under another doc and nurse, which in my opinion should be illegal!!!! Patients (many) have died under her care. PLEASE DO NOT see this woman. Pure EVIL!

Having found out that Dr. Kumarappan lost her license to practice medicine and reading the report, I feel so betrayed. Once again the mental health system has failed me. My new psychiatrist told me that Dr. Kumarappan has been prescribing lethal doses of medications to me for the last 8 years or so and has probably caused me heart damage. She lied repeatedly to the Medical Board and to her patients. This is someone I trusted so much and to find out that she has caused people to overdose and/or commit suicide makes me realize that she is nothing but a fraud and cared nothing about my mental health. There were many red flags and my family has been begging me to find a new doctor but I really thought she cared for my well being. How sad.

Dr Uma Kumarappan finally got her comeuppance and is no longer allowed to practice medicine. During the time she was allowed to practice medicine her behavior was so egregiously unethical and reckless, that I can’t help but wonder if she was INTENTIONALLY trying to harm her patients (myself included). (Read the 38 page long order dated 10.20.2018 on the VA board of medicine website for the details). I shudder to think of all the people she harmed, and pray for the patients of hers that died as a direct result of her actions.

I have been a patient of Dr. Kumarappan for over five years and she is so kind and listens to what I'm saying. She have helped my GAD just by knowing she is there for me when I need someone even if I didn't have an appointment she would talk with me on the telephone. I'm doing so much better with her and my anxiety medication. The most important thing is KNOWING someone if there to help!!!!!!

Dr. K was my psychiatrist for more than 7 years until last winter when she abruptly informed me that she was retiring. She said she'd provide me with contact information of people who could continue my care but never did. When I did not receive that information I discovered that she hadn't actually retired but was bringing other psychiatrists in to help manage her patients after one of her staff had reported her for prescribing ridiculous amounts of controlled substances to her patients. She admitted to me that several of her patients had died of overdoses. I could write more than three pages of everything that unfolded but long story short is Dr. K was more concerned with protecting herself than caring about the well-being of her patients. I have no idea why she has been able to hold onto her license, my guess is she was successful at doing quick damage control. However, in her hasty damage control, concern for my mental health and providing me with an appropriate plan to transfer… my care weren't even an afterthought. The last time I met with her she was extremely unprofessional and aggressive. I have never encountered someone less deserving of practicing medicine. She is a danger to anyone seeking professional treatment for their mental illnesses.

Poor customer service. Nobody is at the front desk or anywhere near it for long periods of time. Patient's time is disrespected and Uma is frequently late in seeing patients. Uma's diagnoses and prescriptions are very ineffective and visits cost $100 each since she does not want to be on any insurance network. Don't waste your time and money on Uma. Lots of negative side effects an little or no help.

Dr. Kummersppan is the most caring and humane Doctor that has ever treated me. She sees both my daughter and myself and we love her wisdom and caring nature. Her secretary Ms.Brenda is the best, caring, gives me great solicited advice whenever she sees me in great distress. She is an old (just ur souls Ms. Brenda).

I find the recent reviews by "concerned mothers" to be inaccurate, irresponsible and essentially libelous. She is a very good physician, and the only area I'd remotely agree on is that she does leave the country on occasion to see her family. She informs patients well in advance, but being a sometimes forgetful person that can be an issue. She is very upfront but informative about her diagnosis and is thorough in her explanations it if you have any concerns. Who ever made the statement about her "getting angry if you ask questions" must have been behaving rather rudely otherwise it is a flat out lie as she has always been the utmost polite in all of our interactions. Thankfully I have an actual "concerned mother" who recommended I visit her as I had not been taking care of myself over the past few years. She was very in touch with the things I had been struggling with and helped to explain things in a very understanding manor. I am not hear to blindly defend, but it seems as if a… lot of misinformed and borderline racist parents that don't want their children to receive actual help and would prefer they "suck it up" instead. At least that is what I'd expect from reviews which insult our intellect and stoop to such serious "medical"critiques such as "she don't speak good English".

Gives drug addicts medication!!! This woman needs to stop b4 anyone else dies!!!

I found that she really didn't give me a " diagnosis". She just kept throwing prescriptions at me to see if they work, and one of the medicines almost put me in the ER I was so sick. So think twice before going to see this "doctor".
