Dr. Viet N Tran, MD

It's been exactly 1 year ago today that Dr Tran performed my spinal surgery. After a somewhat tough recovery, I've been so busy resuming all activity, that I haven't had time to leave reviews! I am enjoying life, walking, taking care of grandkids, working, and feeling healthy again! Thank you Dr Tran!

This has been the very worst experience of my life. These people are SO concerned about using pain medication they refuse to properly treat their patients. I have received pain medication for over two years from my primary care physician. I went to Dr Tran for one visit and he immediately prescribed me pain medication for my back and scheduled surgery. Little did I know that him prescribing me pain meds would trigger my primary to call me and say they have to stop prescribing pain meds because another doctor prescribed them. Dr. Tran, when I first saw him, said he doesn't prescribe pain medication. Then prescribed me pain medication. Fast forward to the surgery. Dr. Tran was over an hour late to the surgery which was scheduled for 7 in the morning. I was told he overslept. So I lay in this cold pre-op room, on a hard as a rock bed with no medication given to relax. Just waiting, twisting and turning in pain. After the surgery was done I woke up in the post Op room to a… gal who was running around between patients. Verbally explaining how far behind she was, refusing once again to administer pain medication due to the Dr.s orders. I was so mad and frustrated and in pain. To the hospital room where I was told I had to stay over night. For 24 hrs I was refused anything beyond 1 pain pill every four hours. The nurses were late, sometimes an hour and a half, in even administering pain meds. I asked for an IV injection and they kept telling me Dr. Tran said just what he prescribed and nothing more. Come to find out he had worked on both my right and left side. Left a gnarly looking 5 inch stitched incision on my back. He was only supposed to do the right but ok he did both. They prescribed me one bottle of percocet and one bottle of muscle relaxers. The muscle relaxers I ended up not being bale to take as they made me feel bad. The percocet worked as prescribed. When the medicine went low I called to refill and was just flat refused. Not because of any other reason other than it is Dr Trans policy not to prescribe pain meds. I told them it was his prescription that stopped my other doctor from prescribing them. No offer to call that doctor and explain. Just nope, not sorry, thats just good ol Dr Trans policy. Bottom line, if you have anything you need treated here be prepared for a very uncomfortable experience. I get there is a pain medication epidemic. I just missed 7 days of work and had back surgery, and their fear or backwoods thinking about pain and how to treat it has led to the worst experience of my life. I will sit here and wait to heal and will immediately find another back doctor. This guy is a joke and should be ashamed of the way he abandons his patients needs. DONT COME HERE!

Looking for a second opinion I called and spoke with a staff member for some time explaining what I had been through with every type of Dr, therapy, treatment etc for the last 2 years after a hard fall damaged my hip, back, neck and wrist. Unable to work and in constant pain I was desperate for someone to listen and explain what they see vs what I'm feeling. She said she understands and assured me this Dr listened, he will actually feel area of concerns as I explain what's affected and no problem he'd spend time going over MRI with me visually and other reports so I could see what's involved. Well, he did not. He said he saw images, spoke so fast it was hard to follow and just as quickly gives his opinion on what he'd do if I chose surgery. As I tried to question or explain I was cut off repeatedly. Finally I asked what else could be causing such pain if fusing doesn't help since prior pain injections failed? It's testing the disk while injected not the nerves. And we'd schedule a… discography, but only if I choose surgery. My thought was if this test could identify the cause were there not other options beside fusion? So I asked about my neck results, he went back out and came back saying yes it's messed up but I wouldn't do surgery what else? As I was leaving he said to take time think about it but that's what he'd do for lumbar, just call to schedule. He never went over images with me or explained notes so I could understand the injuries, didn't "feel" the neck or hip area and definitely wasn't interested in hearing my concerns about how/why this pain is felt in multiple areas. Going to try another pain Dr before deciding on surgery. Very frustrated feeling rushed, not able to explain or question and not discussing images with me. I guess it's better than the first surgeon I saw, all he said was, "I don't know, I just do surgery". Wow

I was referred to Dr.Tran through an E.R. visit. I got lucky. Dr.Tran and I worked together till we came to the conclusion that I would need surgery. I'm very thankful for our outcome. I'm also very thankful that Dr.Tran has a wonderful bedside manner. A couple of times I wanted to cry and Dr.Tran got me to laugh. My back is so much better. So nice to walk with no pain.. Thanks again Dr.Tran??????

I had been in horrible, constant, burning pain in my tailbone and pelvic area for three years when I met Dr. Tran. No drugs or treatments would relieve the terrible pain. Pain that led me to two attempts at taking my own life. I had been to so many doctors with no results. Dr. Tran saw something on an MRI that others had allegedly examined and found nothing that they thought was causing the pain. Dr. Tran did see it and performed the surgery. After that, I still had the pain, but I could at least get relief from it by taking the drugs. Some people may not see the value in that, but I lived to see my son receive his college degree, get his first professional job, marry his high school sweetheart. That is success to me.

This Dr has the worst bedside/office mannerism. He talks way to fast. He spits on you when he talks. He ask you were it hurts then pushs the crap out if it, so you walk away crying because it hurst worst then when you came in.

I highly recommend Dr. Tran. I was referred to him due to my original Orthopedic surgeon going on vacation. Dr. Tran personally called me within 30 of being referred to him. He stated he saw my MRI and knew the pain I was in and asked if I could make it to Seton that day for surgery. When I arrived he called me again to see if I was there and came out to the waiting area and spoke to me and my family about what he was going to do. I was moved to pre-op were the nurses were very curtious. After the surgery Dr. Tran was right there asking how I was and if I needed him to call anyone, which I saw him go directly to the phone and call my family. I called the office the next day with a question and he again personally got on the phone and spoke with me. At my follow up appointment he took me into his office and showed me my MRI and explained what was causing my pain and the procedure he did. I really appreciate the hands on treatment I was given by Dr. Tran. I am officially changing to Dr.… Tran and my primary Orthopedic surgeon. I felt he treated me as he was truly concerned about my pain and correcting the problem than just another patient.

Viet Tran runs through his shtick, feigns a bedside manner and then gives everyone the same treatment: spinal shot and traction etc... based on your symptoms and whatever is most likely. He cost me thousands in tests and then I find out he misdiagnosed me.

He made my back pain from herniated lumbar discs much worse rather than helping. I ended up changing to another doctor who dramatically improved the situation. Not recommended.
