Dr. William L Oppenheim, MD

Dr. Oppenheim’s negligence led to my brother’s untimely death and ruined the lives of the rest of our family. My brother had cervical spinal stenosis & became increasingly numb/paralyzed. He refused to allow my brother to have an MRI and overrode other doctors on the team who recommended that. Stated “all he needs is a good psychiatrist.” Now my brother has passed away.

I had two surgeries for hip dysplasia with this doctor and I’m left with other problems in my leg. First he made the incision way bigger than it needed to be and it permanently destroyed a lot of muscle. Second, he left me with a shorter leg and significant out toeing and so I’ve had to twist my hip forward to compensate, meaning my back is twisted and I have terrible posture. What makes all of this worse is that he is an arrogant man who doesn’t acknowledge any downsides. He said I could do any normal activities which is false. I was wondering my whole life why I couldn’t run or had terrible range of motion. If he had just explained that I would be limited due to the out toeing and bony occlusions and deformity of my femur head I wouldn’t have to had time feeling bad about myself and like the most out of shape person on earth. I wish I also knew that I had an option to fix this problem later on but he never mentioned anything at all and just let me live a limited life. While I was… in the hospital I had no pain management. I don’t think this guy believes children feel pain as when I got my body cast off he told my parents I was just anticipating pain and not actually feeling any. He pushed my leg all the way up to my chest when he should know that my bone deformity prevents me from being able to do that if he was actually a good doctor. He also blatantly lied during the consultation which is why I liked him. He made the surgery sound so easy and said I would be in a body cast but still able to get up and go to the bathroom... obvious lies but I was a kid and didn’t know better. Can’t believe he has so many good reviews. In my experience he is extremely arrogant. Maybe that tricks people into thinking he is good, and he has horrible bedside manner. The worst doctor I’ve seen in my life.

Great surgeon, after 13 years I am still doing well. He had a great attitude and was very helpful in my follow ups and recovery.

We were pleased with Dr. Oppenheim and their staff at Santa Monica. They are real professionals and caring. I will recommend them.

Once past the insurance issues, had a great experience. Office wait is well worth it. Experience counts.

The experience we had with the doctor was a very positive one. He and the gentleman that saw my daughter before the doctor came in were very thorough and professional and they both spent a good amount of time with us. However, I never should have gone to this doctor in the first place. I thought he was the wrong specialist and I called his office 3 times and once spoke with someone about my concerns and twice left messages. I never received one call back so therefore we went to see him and I was right. He then wrote up orders that were going to send us to the right doctor...he wanted her seen by the other doctor within 3 weeks. It has now been over 4 weeks and our insurance company and still to receive the authorizations. I have called numerous times, and all but one time went straight to voice mail and I have not received even one call back. His staff really needs to get their act together, it makes the doctor look bad. I hope that my daughter doesn't lose the use of her legs… while we are waiting for the authorization to get to the insurance company.

Dr. Oppenheim is an amazing doctor that has exhibited great care of my brother over the past 10 years. He has had great bedside manners, has been very thoughtful of his diagnosis and recommendations for treatment of his Cerebal Palsy. Dr. Oppenheim has introduced us to many additional doctors that have assisted with treatment over the years. We feel fortunate to have met him and to have been under his care. He's a good man and cares deeply about the people that he treats.
