Dr Yi Lu, MDPHD

This doctor was aloof and appeared not to care at all about a young member of my family in severe pain that worsened immediately after surgery. The doctor did not even check on his patient in the hospital when he was worse after surgery. He did not do any in person follow up. His surgery created a new cyst seen on postop MRI (ordered by another doctor), but when asked for his opinion about it he said in a tone that he did not care at all, “You reherniated.” Did not even acknowledge the new cyst. Offered no plan or advice. No follow up, no suggestions. I do not recommend a surgeon who does not care what happens to you. Very bad.

Spinal fusion done by Dr Yi Lu which caused permanent nerve damage where I cannot move my bowels normally. I have anal sphincter nerve damage along with urinary voiding issues. I am in my 40's and had a completely normal bowel edits his botched surgery. This dr has completely altered my life as a result of his negligence. I need to take large amounts of stimulant laxatives similar to a spinal cord injury victim in order to go to the bathroom. This doctor took no responsibility and has never once followed up. Please go to a qualified physician..... not this one... of you will forever regret it like me.

Everyone was telling me that the amount of pain I was describing didn't match my MRI and, basically, dismissed my pain. Within a few moments, Dr Lu knew exactly what my problem was.

Dr. Lu was just great. Very knowledgeable, spent a great amount of time. Very thorough! On another note his staff is TERRIBLE! His secretary never returns phone calls and if she finally does call me you back there is NEVER any follow-up. His nurse is just the same. I found her to be extremely rude. I was in a car accident right after my surgery and could not get her to return a call??
