Dr. Pranatartiharan Ramachandran, MD

I went to my husband's consult with Dr. Ramachandran today and we were both very impressed. We had been told by our PCP that surgery was unavoidable and immediately necessary, so we went in expecting the worst. Dr. R took time to show us and explain to us in great detail what was going on in each MRI image. He explained the ramifications of both treating and not treating each disc, why it wasn't needed, under what circumstances it would become necessary, and what to do about medication, etc. In the end, he did NOT recommend surgery for my husband, recommended he actually take less Advil, and advised us to allow the body time to heal itself before doing something that my husband would "have to live with for the next x# years". It was extremely refreshing to meet a surgeon who did not jump at the chance to operate, and who clearly puts the long-term best interest of the patient first. His bedside manner was also excellent, with just a touch of humor. Thumbs up.
