Don't let the Duke affiliation skew your sensibilities. Southwest college of Naturopathic Medicine isn’t Yale, or Rusk or UCLA, so that is fair warning that you are not dealing with the high end of epilepsy specialists. In fact, Husain ignored a series of clear warnings months that there were issues with seizures overtaking her brain months before my daughter ended up in ICU for seven days. He even prescribed a new rescue medication when he should have realized that the “rescue” pills weren’t working because she was having multiple seizures each hour. Avoid unless you have a death wish.

This doctors makes false accusations against other doctors. When he is told that he is incorrect and given evidence. He does not apologize. He is very arrogant and thinks he is correct.

Dr. Hussain was kind enough to work my son in as he was in the hospital and missed his appointment so the 25 minute wait was less than I expected. I sent him a message through Duke chart and he responded and spoke to the nurse himself. I was impressed. It takes 6 months to get in with him because he's good at what he does!

Dr. Husain is an excellent physician. His treatment of my neurological disorder has changed my life. He is one of the few doctors I've encountered who actually listens to his patients. I cannot say enough positive things about him!

Does a good job of explaining the options. He approaches treatment in serious manner, and listens to what the patient has to say. Also, much more knowledgable than other epileptologists I have met.

Refused to speak to patient or family after elective surgery he was paid to monitor intraoperatively was so botched, causing fully functional adult patient to leave the O.R. a quad. All of the Duke doctors ran the other way when patient came out of anesthesia unable to move, or care for her own body functions.
