I had a very frustrating experience with One Medical, specifically involving Abby Lancaster and their billing department. I scheduled a visit strictly for an EKG and routine bloodwork after confirming those services were available. When I arrived, I was simply waiting for those services when Abby came out, brought me into her office briefly, asked a few general questions, and then sent me on my way to complete the EKG and bloodwork I had originally scheduled. I did not book, request, or need a broader medical consultation. However, after the visit, I was charged an additional $178 because the provider allegedly “discussed multiple conditions” and reviewed a note I had shared beforehand. At no point was I informed that this brief interaction would change the scope of the visit or result in a significantly higher charge. There was zero transparency about any increase in cost. What’s more disappointing is that after I raised the concern, the billing team stood by the charge without… meaningful explanation and then stopped responding altogether. Between the lack of cost transparency, questionable coding practices, and poor follow-up from billing, this experience has completely eroded my trust. I will be canceling my One Medical membership and looking for a new practice. I would strongly recommend asking very detailed billing questions upfront or considering other providers altogether.
