Dr. Alan Joseph Barton, MD

Dr Barton was really good at first, he hired a woman to assist and she was fantastic. It was about a year without seeing Dr Barton, his assistant seemed to be doing a great job. Our son started getting a lot of bumps and projectile vomiting. Which was diagnosed by Dr Barton himself over the phone and through pictures. His diagnosis was a virus that caused vomiting. With a lot of back-and-forth we finally were able to see an allergist. He gave us a quite extensive list of items. Our son is allergic too. So we have been treating and basically making all food from scratch and so on. When it was almost time for his 24 month , we requested another allergy test due to noticing changes. When we met with Dr. Burton and showed concern for his allergies that were changing Dr. Bartman himself asked who did the allergy test. We explained he did, he ordered it. Then I had to explain to him that’s probably why his name was on the top of the paper. After mocking me for being concerned and laughing… at the fact that our son was experiencing new issues and he did not need to be tested in his opinion, and it was all a joke. Wedecided to leave Dr. Barton I would not suggest anyone take your child to this man. His office continues to send us papers and request info. Maybe they should listen when you say your finding a new pediatrician.

Dr Barton is thorough and such a kind pediatrician, gentke with kids and Dr Tracy is cut from the same gauge ...

I had Dr. Barton evaluated my son who has Autism. Not only is her thorough, his staff is wonderful. I would recommend him to any person who does not want to drive to Flagstaff or Phoenix for evaluations.

Dr. Barton was a very good Dr. at the beginning with my daughter (now 10 months old). She started tugging at her ear consistently so I brought her in for an apt. Which we were seen by the Nurse practicioner Tracy Osbourne. She stated that my daughter had an ear infection so she prescribed her w/ antibiotics. My daughter was on that for about a week util she started getting really congested and her breathing was very weezy so I called them and they got me in that day which was good. Well, they notified me that she has RSV. They told me there was nothing they could do about that besides to just give her some childrens benedryl to make her more comfortable and too also stop giving her the antibiotics b/c they said her ear infection cleared up. Exactly 1 day later she broke out with a horrible rash. I brought her in again and they told me that, that comes with the RSV. First it's congestion, than rash, than a fever will occur and justy continue to give her antibiotics. Well, i did some… research and a rash does not follow under the RSV catagory. So, i called my family Dr. and she notified me that was i was describing was not a rash it was an allergic reaction. At this point her entire body was covered in this. Her ears, eys lids, back, hands, feet, etc; she told me i needed to take her to the er asap.We did and it was a delayed allergic reation to the antibiotics she was on for her ear infection. When i contacted Dr. Barton about this he pretty much initiated that i was over reacting and didn't seem to care. To me, he got lazy and was not paying attention to my daughter. Even though i asked him before hand if this rash could be from the antibiotics. He assured me it wasn't! So, i trusted him & that's where it got me!

my son has gone to dr. barton twice now with pneumonia, the first at 18 months old. he was turned away because his insurance was termed. now, 3 months later, and after his insurance was reinstated, i took him in due to a smoker-like cough. dr. barton insisted there was nothing there. he all but told me it was just in my head that there was something wrong. fed up with my concerns not being taken seriously, i took him to a different pediatrician. he was diagnosed for the second time with pneumonia.

I first switched my son to Dr. Barton from Dr. Tariq because she was accusing me of starving him and doing everything wrong when all i did was follow her advice. Initally, I was very very happy with Dr. Barton because he would sit and talk with me about everything that was going on. Lately, though, my son (13 months) will not eat anything, basically existing on water and milk all day with like a bite or 2 here or there of food. I've been having problems like this ever since i started with baby food. I bring this up at every visit, but it just seems to get swept under the rug. I'm so worried my son will starve and no one is helping me!

Dr. barton is the best doctor I have ever encountered. He spends all the time that is necessary to diagnose and treat my children. Dr. barton is very personable, kind and knowledgable. I previously took my children to DR.tariq, I trusted her and she let me down more times than one, her approach is always cough medicine and antibiotics. Dr barton will only prescribe antibiotics when necessary so the children dont build up an immunity. Dr. barton was able to diagnose my son's cerebral palsy at 9 months old, pretty remarkable! Dr. barton is never in a rush, he takes the time to even sit in the tiny chairs and talk with the kids. If you need a great pediatrician, call dr. barton.

I never got to see Dr. Barton so I am unable to review him. I made a new patient appointment and the first available was 3 weeks out. I gave the office personnel my insurance info with policy number an insurance carrier phone number. Three weeks later I show up for the appointment to be told that they did not accept this insurance. My child missed the morning of school and I missed a morning of work for nothing due to their incompetence. Absolutely unacceptable.

This doctor only does it for the money. He obviously is not thorough and in my book, he is just concerned with his check book. NO NO NO --- NOT EVEN A MEMBER WITH THE American Medical Association 'nuff said!
