Dr. Alan Jay Meltzer, MD

All Doctors should be like Dr. Meltzer!!! The front desk staff leaves much to be desired. I had tried to gain an apt for 3 weeks,was told to see an urgent care facility by more than one staff member. Today I asked for a reference as I could not find a care facility to handle my child's needs. I was asked if I was on the wait list and said yes... To find out each front desk person has their own wait list. I was not on all 4. Then the staff member said she has worked their for 12 years and everyone who comes to Madison Peds knows they book 3 months out so I should know this. When I asked to be transferred to the other staff to get on all the wait lists she hung up on me. Consider other practices before choosing Madison Peds.

Dr. Meltzer is the head doctor at Madison Pediatrics. It's hard to see him - you will usually get another doctor. The others are fine and nurses are fine. Office staff is rude. Appts hard to get. And the office staff lectures you if they can't make you an appt because when you called 3-months in advance for a well visit (as they instructed), they "didn't have the calendar open" so when you call back days later all the appts are now full, and you can't get one for 5mos, but that "calendar isn't open, but they will somehow book it". I think Dr. Meltzer and his staff could solve a lot if he realized how rude his office staff are to parents, and hired people that are nice and want to do a good job.

Dr. Meltzer was very knowledgeable in diagonising my daughter's condition, however it was somewhat hard to get an appointment although not as much as her old pedritician. Very kind and courteous man as well. Overall, if you can get an appointment, Mr. Meltzer's knowledge will help your child greatly.
