Dr. Alan Jay Schefer, MD

I met with Dr. Schefer for pain in my hands. He diagnosed it immediately as Trigger Finger and suggested a cortisone shot to relieve the pain. I was very impressed by his promptness and straight forward explanation of my problem. I would highly recommend him to family, friends etc. in fact, a colleague of mine who has been experiencing the same symptoms I had is going to make an appt. to see him. Every doctor should be like Dr. Schefer.

Dr Schefer is amazing. He did a great job removing a mass from my arm, and I woke up with no pain at all. In addition to his skills, he has an excellent sense of humor and is just...a nice guy. The ambulatory suite he used was clean, and staffed with kind nurses, who helped me ease my pre-surgery nerves. I was pleasantly surprised with my whole experience!

My husband had wrist surgery performed by Dr. Schefer five years ago and when I severely fractured two fingers, I had no doubt that he should perform the hand surgery. He is an excellent and compassionate surgeon. A week after surgery and my fingers already move much better. When I called late at night, he called us back. He even met us at the office. Now Michael needs surgery to his other wrist and we know Dr. Schefer is the best choice.

Over the years both my wife and I have needed the help of Dr Schefer. He has been easy to speak with and his procedures have been so very benefical to us. Real decent guy too!

I recently have had some pain in my arm and looked up Dr. Schefer, who I remembered seeing in 2015. The visit was great with therapy and non surgical technique. This helped me to a speedy recovery and a lasting impression of Dr. Schefer that made me call him again years later.

Visiting Dr Schefer was super frustrating. I had to wait a long time to get an appointment with him to discuss a fluctuating cyst in my elbow. It wasn't inflamed at the time of my appointment. He shamed me for not coming in to see him earlier when it was and didn't listen to me when I explained how debilitating the cyst was when it's inflamed. I explained to him that I can't predict when the cyst will be inflamed and how his office wouldn't give me an appointment the last time it was inflamed. When the cyst is not inflamed my elbow looks fine. He said since i've been dealing with this cyst for awhile I should just keep dealing with it. Very frustrating that he didn't bother to listen to my actual problem and then shamed and blamed me for not coming to see him sooner. I was really excited to finally have health insurance and get this frustrating cyst dealt with and it was really upsetting to have him brush me off. Wasn't worth the drive or the co-pay.

Extremely understanding. He can give a cortisone shot that you barely feel. His technique is excellent. He has done several surgeries on my hands - carpal tunnel, trigger fingers and a wrist fracture. His follow ups are very thorough. I would recommend him highly.

I love Dr Schefer. He is a gifted surgeon, a very pleasant and affable man who has helped me immeasurably with issues of my hand and knee. I am a musician, and his skill helped me regain complete use of my right hand. I would recommend him without hesitation!
